The projected cost of the new stadium and related complex for the Rams and Chargers being built out in Los Angeles: $5 billion. That is not a misprint. When gawking at the opulence of the Vikings’ new U.S. Bank Stadium, a conversation between two frugal and modest Minnesotans might go something like this:
Minnesotan 1: “Wow, look at it. The scoreboards are huuuuge. It’s so nice.”
Minnesotan 2: “I’ve never seen anything like it. It really is nice.”
Minnesotan 1: “Of course it better be nice. They spent a billion dollars on it.”
Minnesotan 2: “Can you even imagine?”
The actual price tag was $1.1 billion, but that doesn’t buy what it used to. I say this only slightly tongue-in-cheek, since my mouth is still agape at the projected cost of the new stadium and related complex for the Rams and Chargers being built out in Los Angeles: $5 billion.
That is not a misprint. At least that’s according to ESPN’s Seth Wickersham, who reported this week that NFL owners down at their meetings in Orlando were slated to “vote to increase the debt limit for the Rams new stadium, which according to internal league documents is now projected to cost an amazing $4.963 billion.”
That was approved, but the figure also includes “the neighboring 6,000-seat performance venue, the 200,000 square feet of office space for NFL Media, the parking lots surrounding the stadium, and the cost of the entire 300-acre parcel,” per the Los Angeles Times.

Real estate is pricey in Southern California.
The real estate cost is much more expensive and the labor. Plus it is more than just a stadium they are building as the article says. This stadium being privately financed is why STL lost the Rams. Not because they didn’t try to keep a team because they did with little help from Rams.
Hard to compare a sradium shoehorned into a small footprint in downtown Minneapolis to a sprawling new development outside LA in terms of cost. That whole project is crazy huge amd crazy extravagant. If I am remembering the right pictures that sucker is going to make USBANK stadium and all others look like toys.
I agree with cost of the land.
When I built my house near a lake it dawned on me how much more "house" we could of had if we hadn't decided to invest in the location and had just built it away from the lakes.
Great....Just what we need here in So. CA. more concrete and narcissists.

not wanting to take this political, how serious is that movement to split California? Is that something that has a legit chance in terms of support or is it a few radicals that are just making a lot of noise?

Your last assessment has it pegged. Has no weight.
People in CA. aren't happy unless they are protesting ANYTHING or posting how much better their lives & children are than yours on Facebook. I've stopped watching the news....Rape, Murder, Arson, Homelessness, drug addiction....and the weather.
Be putting our house up in the next month. I'm getting my wife and kids outta here, I'll join them as often as I can until I can retire.

Not sure I follow? I'm guessing you mean cost of living? jobs?
If so, yes things are more expensive in Hawaii, but we won't have a mortgage / car payments there, and I'll be getting my CA. retirement & will probably just work for mad money/ something to do.
Just an easier pace / lifestyle. We spend so much going to Hawaii at least twice a year anyway...Hell, I'll probably SAVE money.
