Good.  Solid, reliable punt returner...not a great CB, but can fill-in, in a pinch.  At least now we won't have to go into training camp again wondering if he's going to make the team again (I realize a contract is no guarantee in the NFL); just sayin'...I approve this message

One less thing to debate.  Slowly but surely these moves will be the doom of the internet message boards.

a one year deal says to me that Rick wants security at the return position heading into the draft,  but he doesnt want to be locked into the player if the draft drops a younger/cheaper return guy, with more position specific upside into his lap.  I dont think this is any kind of assurance that MS will be on the roster this year, and I dont think he is alone in that pool.  We are seeing more and more of the vets having to take cuts and weaker shorter term deals to stick with the team.  I think all the love for Brez and the new free agents is coming at the expense of the teams proven vets.  right of wrong,  popular with the fans or not,  we need to be ready to see some different faces at the expense of those we have enjoyed watching. ( me personally,  I dont like seeing the team throw away guys that have carried the team through the dark years when they are on the cusp of achieving greatness.  seems to me there should be some loyalty and reward to these guys.)

BRob is under contract already.  There was a rumor a few weeks ago that he was asked to restructure,  but after that 1 article we havent seen or heard anymore on the matter.

Oh yea.  That was right around the time with Murray and he redid his and not a peep from BRob.  So maybe they are now laying off of him doing a reduction???

I wish we knew,  but silence is sometimes deafening.

maybe there is a bigger plan at play, but the team still has a shit ton of cap space,  i dont see beating up these vets until there is a reason to beat up these vets.  I know its not a popular view,  but I cheer for the names on the back as much as the names on the front... they are the team,  not some owner in a booth,  not some suit in an office, not some logo on a helmet.   its the guys that strap on the pads that make our team what it is.  just as much as I  am relieved when the team moves on from a guy that I think is a poor representative of our team,  I am irritated when the suits screw over guys that have done so much for the team.  sure they have likely made more money than I ever will,  but money isnt the point.  its about treating players like humans and not some rental car that you bought the extra insurance on.  I admit,  I get somewhat of an emotional attachment to the players.

I am with you.  Of all the sports, the NFL players, earn their money.  They are modern day gladiators for our entertainment and they have a decreased quality of life and life expectancy.  So when it comes to NFL players I am usually always on the players side.  Not so in silly basketball and baseball - just my opinion.  Of course NHL is my second favorite sport.

Especially guys we drafted and have spent their career busting their ass for our team.  Sherels, BRob, Greenway, Teddy (limited time, but the feeling was still there), Griff, Harrison, AT, Diggs, Rhodes.  The older guys have definitely taken their lumps in the Frazier years.  Some like BRob have stayed loyal for less money and it doesn't sit well when they treat someone like him poorly.
