The NFL Combine is set to kick off from Indianapolis on Tuesday February 27 to March 5. As the entire NFL world converges on Indy, there are expected to be a number of offseason stories that come out during Combine Week. The Vikings could meet with Teddy Bridgewater’s reps in attempts to work out a new contract. News should be coming soon on whether is contract will toll. Of course, teams are not supposed to discuss other free agents, but we could hear more about potential landing sports (and a price tag) for Kirk Cousins. Could there be a sleeper veteran quarterback who becomes surprisingly available?
Which offensive lineman will wow the Vikings?One of the biggest goals for Minnesota’s front office is further improving the offensive line. This year’s class of guards is expected to include some quality prospects who could be available when the Vikings pick at No. 30 overall. Would the Vikings prefer a plug-and-play guard or a tackle with the upside to be a franchise player? Players like Orlando Brown, Will Hernandez, Conor Williams, Brian Price and Kolton Miller will be among the most discussed on the O-line.
Will the Vikings re-sign any of their free agents?The Vikings will have a good opportunity to make a pitch to any of the unrestricted free agents that they might be interested in bringing back. Players like defensive linemen Shamar Stephen and Tom Johnson, cornerback Terence Newman or running back Jerick McKinnon. Restricted free agent guard Nick Easton should also be in line for a new deal. Also, will we hear reports of potential Vikings targets who will hit the market or stick with their teams?
Will the Vikings be intrigued by any quarterback prospects?This year’s quarterback class includes serveral intriguing players who could drop to the bottom of the first round. There appears to be debates going on around the league about where Lamar Jackson will be selected. Would the Vikings be interested if he dropped? Are there quarterbacks in the later rounds who could catch their eye?
Could the Vikings look for trade partners?At the draft last year we saw the Vikings swing a number of trades, moving up to take Dalvin Cook and Pat Elflein. Could there be any player deals involved? The Vikings do not have any players who stand out as being on the block but other teams who are cap strapped may look to deal. Going into the draft with only five picks probably isn’t ideal for the Vikings.
