I am sure there is a reason, I just cant imagine what it would be.
Kenum, if he wins a Superbowl he will be much more expensive.
Bradford/ Bridgewater, other teams are interested. Trade one keep the other?
Its puzzling to me. I am sure there is a reason. One you insiders know anything?
After last season I thought we should have extended Bradford. Then he looked great in game 1 and I thought we missed our opportunity to sign him to a reasonable contract that his price tag just sky rocketed. . . . Then his knee failed and he missed a couple of games and he tried to come back against Chicago but looked awful and did not play again in the regular season.
Sometimes you just have to let things play out.
Who knows, maybe they are negotiating with one or two but can't come to an agreement? Its hard to say.

how do you trade a free agent?
Keenums value is what it is, him winning a superbowl without showing much more improvement from what hes shown thus far wont change his value... he is what he is at this point. Besides, I am not sure the coaches are sold on him yet. He really hasnt shown any real consistency in terms of production and has still shown to lock in on targets and his arm strength is a concern.
Teddy and Sam are also huge unknows for their own reasons. I am not sure the coaches are ready to throw in on either of them yet as well.
This might be a case...( yep) where its best to let the market play out and see where we stand as I dont think any of them are worth what they will likely think they are worth.
very soon other teams will force their hand and they will have to react rather than lead in any negotiation. But right now, i dont think they know how to play their hand. Vikes need the playoffs to answer some questions. Nice position to be in but still tough.
I'd say because they're smart. All three QBs are potentially worthy of a contract. And all three have something about them that makes one question the wisdom in that. Vikings probably want to just let it play out. If you extend Case and he turns back into a pumpkin in the playoffs, what have you got? If you extend Teddy or Sam, what does that say to Case at a time when you don't want to be upsetting any apple carts. I think the best thing they can do is nothing....let it play out and make their decision after the season.
What is ironic is that we have had years of struggling to find a QB and now we cannot figure out who we want to keep. Feast or Famine.

I know you guys get a kick out of saying things like that. But if you understand my question then you realize its part of my point. In fact you might see it as the entire basis for my question.
I would think they would be trying to lock all three of them up to friendly deals and then work the trades. What is the price value of a first or second round draft pick?
None of them are currently in line for a franchise deal. But there are teams who might trade a first or at least a second for one of them.
The off season and the business deals are my favorite part of football. Ive never seen a situation like this. I have faith in the management, i just wonder what they are thinking.
But hey, maybe the ARE trying to figure out how to trade players they downt have the rights to. I wonder what they could get for Erin Rodgers.

think about it... it doesnt happen. most new contracts are about up front cash (signing bonuses) that isnt money that can be recovered in a trade and counts against your cap, even after the player is gone if you prorate the bonus across the term of the contract.
also... if you are a pending free agent with a team that has congestion at the position, why would you settle for a low ball offer when you could test free agency and always come back to a low ball deal?
ask yourself, how often do you hear about a free agent resigning with a team and then getting traded away before ever playing a snap and it turning out good for the team that resigned that player?
personally I tend to agree with a point another poster made, the team has likely already decided to try and work a deal with Sam or Teddy, but they dont want to distract Case as he prepares for a playoff run. imagine the slap in the face to Keenum if the teams was already moving on from him publicly before this run has even ended.

Keenum has the # 2 QBR in the NFL, He has helped get us to the playoffs with our second best record since 1998.
when is the last time a Viking QB has had a QBR that high?
I guess he is what he is...
