For the organization, the fans, his teammates, etc.......today needs to be a decent one for the kid. His teammates are ready to get back on the wagon, they just need a reason. Just needs to relax and let it rip, for better or worse. Another home debacle and he'll be booed to International Falls. Probably too far to say its the beginning of the end if its a shit show, but I think strategy and plans for the offseason definitely shift if its another gross outing. What that exactly means remains to be seen.
I won't lie, my confidence has been shaken in JJ. His back can't be more against the wall as we stand right now. There's a small part of me that of course is very hopeful, but if I'm being honest, I envision another subpar outing. Fingers crossed this is another opinion of mine that turns out to be wrong come 4:00 pm eastern time. Throw us fans a life preserver, JJM.....trying to hang in there.

I don't think his first win was decided by then, but I've always wondered why we have to have the cardiac kids for pro sports franchises in MN.

Baby steps I guess...
He's gotta stay healthy first and fore-most, then show he can do the job when on the field. Sadly, a long ways from either right now.
Even with a dramatic turn-around on his part, the damage is done this year and they will bring in a vet competition - they have to.
I'm in long-ball mode now as a fan, which is disappointing and getting old tbh.
Been a tough year to be a fan of this team.

I think a lot of Viking fans have tuned out, which is surprising to me, since this game might be the most important Viking game in a couple decades. But hey, no pressure, kid.
The reason I say that is because the next 2-4 years is going to be determined by how JJ McCarthy performs in these final five games. It will determine if we bring in an expensive starter or a seasoned backup in 2026. It will have roster and staffing impacts. Will Justin Jefferson stay or will he go? It will have an impact on who will want to come to Minnesota in free agency.
This game is at home, against a team who ranks 30th against the pass and not much better against the run. He'll be running a simplified offense. If JJ doesn't show SOMETHING in this one, there's a looooong road ahead. I tend to think he will, but I wouldn't bet a nickel on that.

Thats a good distinction between starter and seasoned vet...Certainly cap differences between the two. Our reality would be any starter they could actually sign is going to have a checkered past or he wouldn't be available.
I think fans are overlooking the possibility of going big in the draft on a QB THIS YEAR...They could be drafting top 10 and have ammo to do some things. I dont prediction Mendoza wearing purple next year, but I believe this could be a path they try.
My own opinion is they draft Love if he's there or help the defense with that #1 pick - or trade it to Detroit

As much as we all love Jeremiah Love, that would be a waste of a pick as long as OConnell is the coach. 31st in rushing attempts a game since he's been here and has no interest in establishing a ground game.

Jeremiah Love is the real deal.....I love him so much more than Ashton Jeanty as a prospect. Nobody is going to mess up Love's NFL, he's going to be the real deal IMO. If Minnesota were able to draft him, I'd do a happy dance.

I agree, there's just no way you make that pick with OConnell, who in the words of Mike Zimmer, can "drive down to any 7-11" and find a running back to fill that role in the KOC offense. You move on and bring in Joe Brady as coach who actually utilizes the running game and makes Love his James Cook...now you're talking.
