Rough time to be a fan...
I dont know how they safely bring JJM along with such a Mash unit on the OL?
We were w/out Greenard and Gink last night for a while, but that D is just underperforming overall. Something aint right.
Makes you question a lot when stuff goes to shit like this.

I watched til half then stopped. The concerns from earlier this season continue to be an issue. A O-line that was injured that needed time to gel, has continued to get injured. The D-line has not been nearly as stout, or put on near the pressure without Van Ginkel. The defensive backs have struggled without suitable replacements and more time to throw because of the lack of pressure. If you refuse to put a decent QB out there we can't compete. If you want to protect JJ fine - then put Brosmer out there.

I agree with you, but how do you know what happened if you turned it off at half?
Greenard wasn't out that long.
I think Jjettas said it best in that he knows somethings wrong and it needs to get fixed fast.
IMO, that fix is a leader. Wentz is not that and McCarthy is. KO needs to take the training wheels off and let McCarthy learn in game. We shouldn't be expecting perfection, but we should expect to win some games. This team is too good on paper to be putting what they have on the field lately.
Injuries are a big problem and so is the o line (again). Can we find a freaking competent o line coach? Where is Allen and Hargraves? Allen got a sack because Herbert ran into him and he fell on him, but he has looked like a greased pig in most games this season. We cannot stop the run, unless it's the Barkley and gameplanning for him, but then we can't stop the long 3rd downs. Harrison Smith is out of it and needs to retire. Hockenson looks like he's high all the time not getting into his routes quick enough and when he does decide to turn around, he forgets that his job is to catch the ball. He looks like he's stuck in quick sand and can't move his body to adjust to a catch (other than the diving end zone one of course). And lastly...can we stop with all of the penalties?

I normally dont check out that soon, but just a feeling after all these decades that it wasn't worth my time or emotional investment.
Hope they turn it around soon, if not suck enough to get a top 10 pick I guess. I dont love playing that fan game though. No assurances on draft picks - as we know all too well.

After the first half, my son and I jumped into the hot tub with a few beers. By the time we got back to the TV, the game in real time was over so we just fast forwarded through that steaming pile of purple pig pooh in about 10 minutes.
I'm looking forward to watching JJ next week. I think there's a decent chance this offense can be significantly better later in the year. Obviously nothing is guaranteed with a young QB, but at least there's a reason for hope, a reason to watch. There is no such hope or reason on the other side of the ball. No "deus ex machina" waiting in the wings to solve all our problems. The defense is relatively healthy, probably healthier than most teams right now. They just can't stop anyone.
We've had worse teams, but I don't think I remember a time when the GULF between the team on paper and the team on turf has ever been wider. The good(ish) news is that the Vikings may be headed toward a top 10 pick.

Reminded me of the good old days under Zimmer where every primetime game meant we were about to get smoked. Chargers offense did whatever it wanted last night for the most part. Keenan, McConkey, the rookie tight end, the running back... They spread the ball around but had they wanted or needed to, any one of those guys and probably their backups too could've had a blowup game on us last night.
The whole team was gassed from Sunday and never got off the bus. They're probably more ready than we are for a different quarterback. Hopefully over the next week and change they can get their mojo back. That largely seems to hinge on McCarthy at this point. Go get em kid.

There's nothing really for me to add and say, haven't posted in a few days...and last night was just a complete shit show. I don't want to waste energy and time with a team that obviously is not going to be anywhere near as good as many thought. Injuries, etc. and watching Wentz is useless. Now JJ is going to try and learn/improve behind an offensive line that has been the biggest disappointment of the season, but followed closely with a D that now is easily game-planned for and underperforming. I stopped watching before halftime actually....really wasn't in the mood.

To me, last night was the culmination of two factors - one having a guy with no personnel experience run your team and two bringing in a defensive coach who totally crippled his previous team and had no other team interested in him. We can talk about the OL and QB all day, but the other side of the ball was even more embarrassing and they were fully healthy except for one. We are consistently in the hole every game, because the defense is not prepared and gives up a TD on the first drive, they then make absolutely no adjustments all game. Kwesi is absolutely awful with managing personnel, but I am pretty certain that the decisions to sign guys like Allen, Hargrave and Rodgers, while letting Bynum go and replacing him with a hybrid LB are mostly on Flores.

Same with me.
Went and watched The Diplomat instead.
Ugh.
That OL was a disaster.

Flores is overrated as a defensive coordinator. He is trying to play defense with smaller quicker guys but that doesn't stop a team from running right at them, as we have seen all to often. I think teams have figured out his schemes and tendencies and learned how to attack them. Flores is either to stubborn to change or doesn't know how.
The entire coaching staff and scouting department need to be evaluated during the off season and changes may need to be made.
When they show the draft room on draft day, how can so many people in that room be in agreement on a player that sucks when the games begin. They show Kwesi and KOC on the phone talking to the picks "we are so excited and can't wait to get you here" or "can't believe you were still available for us". Then they either get waived or cut.
