ESPN: As always, proof is in the pudding

Vikings not surprised by J.J. McCarthy's eye-opening NFL debut:

As a result, McCarthy said he didn't enter Monday night looking to prove himself to the team.

"I feel like it was more proving it to myself," he said, "because I feel like this team, their belief in me is something I tremendously appreciate. ... Being able to really show who I am in the biggest moment was something that was really cool, but it was more just about proving it to myself."

Many games to be played, many things to prove for JJ. Areas for clean up for sure. One game at a time.

We will be reading and listening to repeated stories each week on the emergence of JJM...not expecting it to always be rosy, either. But his W-L record since high school is pretty impressive, I must say.

did he got to a regular high school or one of those academies for all stars that recruit all the best the area has to offer?
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

He went to IMG in Bradenton, FLA.   Definitely a great school for an athlete.

Went to a regular Catholic high school, Nazareth in La Grange. Transferred to IMG Academy in Florida when Nazareth cancelled football season over COVID his senior year.

"In two seasons as the starting quarterback at Nazareth, McCarthy led his team to a 26–2 record with consecutive appearances in the IHSA Class 7A state championship game, winning the state title as a sophomore in 2018. In his lone season at IMG, McCarthy led his team to an 8–0 record and a consensus high school football national championship."

I'm hoping that we get 4 quarters' worth of "pudding" going forward, because we're not going to get by with only 4th quarter offense.
It's officially SKOL SEASON!! LET THE PLUNDERING BEGIN!!

Thats for sure, and I dont like playing an "ofer" team either...

I think we win this, but it might be closer than many fans expect.

ATL has some nice weapons and Penix can sling it too.

Pretty good tell when your team passes on re-signing Darnold, let's Dimes walk and barely has supper with Aaron Rogers.

They'd bet getting skewered for it all week if JJ didnt pull it together like he did.

But I supported the decision and of course still do.
