OG Donovan Jackson
#1
He's just got the build of an NFL OG, doesn't he? Thick, lower to the ground power base, just a dense body type. Hard to move, but conversely moves a lot of people because of that low torque. Smart. Mild demeanor, but flips a switch on game day and brings the dawg out. I think NFL coaching/weight program gets him to 'very good' status....not elite, but way above average. I think he's going to be one of those automatic guys that rarely gets talked about but does his job well every game. That's a homerun for JJM as this line is going to be a major upgrade from what Uncle Sammy had. Ohio State O-linemen when they hit, they hit hard because these are the most talented O-linemen in college football. And I say this as a homage because I'm a Wolverines fan. They do an amazing job recruiting that position.

Call me silly, but there's a serendipity that just can't be denied:

Minnesota selected former Ohio State offensive lineman Donovan Jackson with the 24th overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft
Minnesota selected former Ohio State offensive lineman Korey Stringer with the 24th overall pick of the 1995 NFL draft

I think he looks like what the Darrisaw of guards would be. Just big and smooth and makes things look easy.

Wow, I didn't realize that. Love the Jackson pick, and I'm hoping we hit a home run with him, but we might need to be patient.

Saw an interesting segment on how young QBs can make offensive lines look bad — holding the ball too long, passing up easy completions for hero plays, relying too much on athletic ability to buy time, slow recognition of coverage, failure to check out of plays or adjust protection…

With what we hope will be a stud OL, will be interesting to watch how JJ operates…

ITs a great reminder for fan patience...Its been posted here a ton, but the RB's and Hock are so intergral to this yr1.

I'm not convinced they're as integral to how KOC will call plays though lol. Poor JJM may be expected to go to Brown belt in a hurry with this HC.

None of this white belt/yellow belt s hit.

30 years goes fast, don't it?

My old man once told me he's now got more years behind him than in front. These kind of things bring it to life even more

Man it sure does. Seems like the first 30 was in slow motion and the second 30 on fast forward.

I still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when the Stringer news broke, especially the WAY it broke. Gradually, then suddenly. Isn't it just heat stroke? Why is everyone praying for Korey?

That makes me cringe every time I hear it. If I remember right, that was said about Willie Beavers, who'd be on my list for worst draft pick in our history. I know others would probably list Treadwell or Williamson, but Beavers was up there for me because I thought he was just horrible in college (and worse at the Senior Bowl). I don't often have players on a "must-not-draft" list, but Beavers was. And of course we took him in the 4th round.
