NFL Power Rankings: Avert your eyes if you don't want the hype

#5 VIKINGS
Sam Darnold is making plays, Brian Flores is doing a great job with the defense and Justin Jefferson is a game-wrecker. Combine that with Kevin O'Connell as head coach, and that's why they are 2-0.

#11 Minnesota Vikings
2-0
There aren't many better coaching staffs in the NFL than the one in Minnesota. Kevin O'Connell has Sam Darnold playing at a level he never consistently reached before. Brian Flores' defense held the 49ers to seven points through three quarters. Coaching matters, and that's why Minnesota is in first place in the NFC North.

#7. Minnesota Vikings: They destroyed a bad team in Week 1, then edged an excellent one Sunday. But old friend Danielle Hunter returns to the Twin Cities this weekend, and his Texans are sure to put the Vikes' humming Sam Darnold-to-Justin Jefferson connection to the test.

lol, edged? Spoken like a guy that didn't watch the game.

They look like a playoff team and the 2 keys have been Darnold’s + QB play and this new group of Linebackers. Honorable mention to the new old corners and the staff.

I think it’s fair to say we edged the niners who are a great team. We beat them mostly with situational football. The stats were pretty even.

So fun to watch this year. Let’s keep this party going!!

Sunday is a solid test, as the Texans are pure aggression and we'll have both Diggs and Hunter to deal with. With a convincing W in that game, anyone keeping the Vikings out of their top 10 is based in Green Bay, Detroit, or Chicago.

This was from their computer-generated, simulated season. Gotta love predictive models software in sports, completely useless.

Texans are probably one of the more athletic D's I've seen.

This is going to be a tough game, glad its here.

I posted this yesterday, I am almost more concerned about an emotional let down by us after the 49'er win than I am the Texans...

Agreed, I mentioned this yesterday. The team might come out slow.

With this coaching staff, I think there is less of a chance of an emotional let-down than in years past.
Also, after pretty solidly beating what was considered the best team in the nfc, they are still ranked (by Yahoo) below the Jets, Eagles, Ravens, Cowboys, Detroit, AND the team they just abused, that should be enough to keep them focused.

I wasn't very surprised with the 49ers win, Vikings have been fast starters many times over my fandom. But, it has been since 2016 that they started 2-0.
