I'm rooting for the kid to do well...

These guys put enough pressure on themselves w/out the media adding gas to the fire.

Its all the media does: overreact positively or negatively. Its part of what these kids have to deal with, the smart ones stay away from social media as much as possible.

It reminds me of the typical 1st round QB going to a chitty team and getting crushed under all the disfunction of the team. Hope he overcomes.

All of these young quarterbacks are under immense pressure. Not only are they considered the key to a successful season for shitty teams but they have to learn a new offense, new teammates, a new city, a new coaching staff, and then they only have a couple of weeks of training camp and preseason games begin. The local beat writers can be horrible on a young guy trying to get acclimated to the league.

Maye is continuing to not look good. I guess Milton is outperforming him currently (low bar). Its all so ridiculously early, but I hope Drake is keeping his nose out of social media. There were questions about his accuracy coming out. Honestly, the bet on him was not his last season in college, but the year before, where he was better. Not saying he's a bust by any stretch, but its a rough start.

An interesting story back in mid-April from the Boston Herald on Maye. Look at the negative reviews: its what's happening right now with him.

Ouch:

“I’m the last person in the world who wanted to see what I saw, I wanted to lie to myself today,” sports commentator Michael Holley said Monday on NBC Sports Boston. “I watched Drake Maye in college, I loved him in college you guys know that. He was a tremendous college player. At times in North Carolina people compared him to Justin Herbert, I said ‘I can see that.’ People compared him to Josh Allen. I can see that at North Carolina.”
“Today, in Foxborough, you know who I saw? The ghost of Mac Jones. I saw the ghost of Mac Jones. Not just Mac Jones facing off against Tom Brady as a rookie, we are talking about Mac Jones in Dallas in that awful game that awful beatdown they took at Dallas last year. He was terrible, he was terrible in every sense of the word. He couldn’t get anything right.”

The athletic traits are there, work ethic there...Even though he was drafted @ 3 he's still a rookie who needs polish and work.

Maybe the floor was a bit lower than some predicted, I think his ceiling is high.

Troy Aikman went 0-11 record (155 of 293 for 1,749 yards, 9 TDs, 18 INTs) his rookie year as Johnson threw him to the wolves. This was back in 1989. You think Cowboy Nation wouldn't have absolutely gutted the guy in today's social media/podcast/YouTube environment? Nobody would care how shitty the team surrounding him was.

Way, way too early to say anything of real value about Drake Maye.....but his every throw, of every day gets broken down by the 'media fans'. And they have no idea what they are looking at. Like I said, hope the kid keeps his nose out of his phone and the HC has his back.

I didn't dislike Drake Maye. but I didn't love him enough to want to trade up for him. I've said a couple times that who he reminded me of coming out was Sam Darnold.

So glad NE saved Kwesi and KOC from themselves. Maye, or JJM+Turner+2025 1st? Duh.
