Thats the hope...
Its gonna take time if it does happen.
IMO they should have traded Danielle when they could, but thats water under the bridge and I guess can be argued either way. '
I'm just glad he didnt end-up in the NFCN, or Eagles, Dallas...Can u imagine Parsons with Danielle on the same DL?

Greenard is an ascending young pass rusher. He's probably not as good as Danielle was at that age (or is now), but he'll be a strong player for us assuming he stays healthy.
Dallas Turner has some serious speed, explosiveness, and a motor that doesn't stop... he's better than Wonnum or Patrick Jones right now and has a chance to be even better than Danielle in a few years.
I think our pass rush will be improved immensely with Greenard, Van Ginkel, and Turner as our top 3 guys instead of Hunter, Wonnum, and Patrick Jones. Just watch, they'll wreak some havoc especially with Cashman and Pace mixing it up on blitz packages.

That's the way I see it too: the 3-man rotation is better than the one we had last year.
It's too early to say that Turner will be better than Hunter. Hunter was All Pro and Turner's still a rookie and he could always be a bust. Just never know. But at some point this season, I think Turner will become our Hunter, our Edge 1. And if that's the case, '24 compares pretty well, with Greenard significantly more productive than Wonnum's best season ever, and AVG significantly better than the nearly invisible PJ2 and Davenport.
If Turner is everything he was drafted to be, and right now he's the favorite for DROY, Vikings pass rush should improve quite a bit.

I don't know if Turner + Greenard will exceed DH's production. But, Hunter is a 4-3 DE who we converted to OLB last season. Whereas, Greenard is a natural 3-4 OLB.

Greenard and Hunter had a very similar 2023 season in terms of pressure, sack rate, etc.
Danielle beat him by 4 sacks (16.5 compared to 12.5) but it's not going to be a giant step down from Hunter to Greenard. Again, Greenard is an ascending young pass rusher. I don't think we'll see a noticable drop off in our pass rush this season. Especially when we've upgraded our secondary pass rushers by replacing Wonnum and Patrick Jones with Van Ginkel and Dallas Turner.

I always liked Hunter....but I never loved him. He would disappear for periods of time. We'll see.

Don't all edges disappear for periods of time, depending on who they're facing and how they're game planned? We played both of the Bosas last year. They had one sack between them.

For sure it could be I'm too hard on Hunter.....but it just seemed to me he'd go MIA.

I know what you're saying, when Allen was in his prime and we needed a big play, you could about count on JA to rise to the occasion, with Hunter I never felt like we had that kind of superstar pass rusher. He got his numbers, but they rarely felt like they turned the table or took over a game.

I think it's probably just a home-fan perception. I doubt other teams thought he was MIA. Pretty hard to get 16.5 sacks if you go missing for stretches. In fact, his 2023 sack total ranks 4th in Viking team history. A history that includes some pretty legendary names. In fact, Hunter is the only Viking who appears three times in the top 7 sack seasons, with Allen, Doleman, Randle and Millard appearing only once each. That's pretty impressive.
What's even more impressive is that if you include tackles (largely run-game performance) Hunter ranks 1st, 2nd and 3rd among that group. He was so huge for us. And so underrated. Look, I love Turner and I know why the Vikings did what they did, but we are going to miss Danielle's versatility.
