How conspiratorial do you guys wanna get here?? Hear me out…

Chargers have cut Mike Williams, traded Keenan Allen and let Eckler walk leaving Justin Herbert with hardly any real weapons other than Joshua Palmer and newly signed Gus Edwards.

The Chargers own the fifth pick but will likely miss out on the best receiver in the draft who will probably go to the Cardinals.

Enter the Vikings who have the best non-QB offensive player in the NFL who is also nearing the end of his rookie deal and is looking for a big pay day. Unfortunately they have no real QB to throw him the ball. Equally unfortunate is the fact they pick 11th and aren’t in a good position for one of the top 4 QBs without trading up.

If you were Kwesi…would you trade JJ for Herbert straight up?

This would allow Harbaugh to draft the guy he called the best QB in Michigan football history who knows his system, calls, etc…..ultimately making it the absolute best destination JJM could fall into.  It gives JJM the best WR in the NFL to throw to and his rookie contract allows The Chargers to pay JJ as much as he wants.

For the Vikings they get a YOUNG proven commodity at QB. He has plenty of weapons with Addison, Hock, and Jones plus whomever gets added in the draft. The Vikings also get ultimate flexibility back at pick 11 to take the best player available. Not to mention the world of cap space next year plus all the money allotted for JJ can go to help pay Herbert.

Neither team forfeits future picks and both teams ultimately get what they want.

I’m spent

***edit…I’m not really serious about this…the Allen trade just got me thinking ***

Chargers ownership would not trade Herbert.   Harbaugh isn't looking to do that either.  Vikings aren't looking to trade JJ.

Other than all that it's a great idea.

Tweak it a bit:  JJ for the #5 pick straight up.  Chargers get the best WR in the NFL, Vikings get McCarthy and still have all their other picks including #11.  B)

Now the biggest reason against this is that the Chargers are cutting people because they're now in the cap hell the Vikings have finally dug out of.  Trading for and signing JJ might put them right back in.  :#

1. Williams
2. Maye
3 Daniels.
4, Arizona is  trades their pick, JJ McCarthy

5. Harrison to Chargers.

Arizona is gonna be getting calls. from anyone that wants Harrison, or anyone who wants a QB. McCarthy?

I think this is smart to sign a guy like Allen to help Caleb Williams in Year 1. Allen will get open, he will fight for the football and he's fiery. The downside of his career for sure, but still decent amount in the tank. At least in the short term. Safety blanket for Williams, good for a rookie's psyche.

Like Thielen was for Young, Allen will be the veteran security blanket every young QB needs. In the meantime, you don't want to look at what has happened to San Diego. It's ugly. If I'm Herbert I'd want to be traded.

This is why I believe any real thought of trading up for Minnesota that's not fantasy is #5 and the Chargers. They need cheap players and that's what the Draft is all about. IMO, if the Draft hits right, their guy is there, they could move up to that spot. Or just stay at #11. It won't be top 3.
