Baker gets 3 years and up to $115 mil from the Bucs

He’s also getting a little more than the 20-25 mil/year that some here were predicting. I also suppose, according to some, the Bucs should also take a QB high in the draft to secure their future.

they have their starter who isnt very old himself,  but if they dont have at least one young guy, in the developmental stage, then yes they should.  not likely with a first,  but definitely day 2 or early day 3.

yes, definitely good for him.  that kind of money, depending on the guaranteed dollars,  should set him up for life and allow him to just go play the game.

But I’m gonna go ahead and bet they don’t. Because, again, that’s not what teams do.

Nope,  they over pay for mediocre QB play,  which only accelerates the QB market forcing other teams to over pay for their own middling QBs because they didn't keep drafting QBs.

Surprised he got less than Carr did last offseason. Saints really flubbed that. No tears were shed.

What choice did the Bucs have other than sign Baker? They pick 26, so the only team that would give their first pick up for a ham sandwich is at 11 and that won't get them a franchise QB. They most likely won't get R. Wilson and Cousins will want much more than they gave Baker. What other FA is better than Baker? Not too many. That was the least expensive path to getting a playoff caliber QB without rolling the dice.
