Too dumb to edit the OP but i thought the draft fell pretty well after trading down to 20 and picking up a 3rd.  This assumes Kirk is resigned for 2 guaranteed years and we dont covet or are able to trade up for a QB.

picks 2-4 are not the sexiest but i think they go a long way toward building up depth up the middle which we sorely need. Teams like Baltimore, Dallas, Pittsburgh SFO all build through the trenches and I think we need to follow that model to become a perennially good team.

I really like all the later picks as I think these players could all be useful to BFlo.  I think Thomas and Smith will be valuable role players n this league.

He was there at 42, and he is very tempting, i just like Taylors upside and fit  in an odd front. He and Fiske potentially give us an IDL that would solidify our D for a long time.

Was hoping we'd grab a QB around pick #179....

What if I told you we could line up Jared Verse opposite Hunter, with Sweat up front next to Chris Jones and Harrison Phillips. It's definitely possible if the Vikings decide to go for it.

What does it cost? 1. The Vikings have to decide to go for it. 2. Vikings have to sign Cousins for 3 years and put off drafting a QB for one more season. And 3. They have to be willing to put some money into 2026.

I think resigning Hunter and Chris Jones early in free
agency would go a long way towards getting Cousins to resign here for a more
moderate price.  Also trading for one of
the chargers edges would be a bold move if you could get them moderately priced
as it would say we’re trying to go all in around you.

That said if Cousins fails to resign, you’d be investing a
lot of money into a team without a QB and you could be wasting a handful of
their prime years trying to get one.

Agree. But unfortunately, I think Cousins is the 1st domino that has to fall before they go after pricey free agents. Part of the negotiation with Kirk would be the promise, or at least intention, to get more talent on the team. Vikings have plenty of money to do so. They just have to decide to go all in. To me it's a no brainer, but I don't run the team.
