Thats a big deal with big shoes to fill.
Sweetheart of a spot, checking most coaching metric boxes. I wonder two things: Was he hearing whispers calling for him to go? This new era of college ball may just not have appealed to him

The rest of college football made it legal to do what Alabama and the SEC had been doing for the last 17 yrs. Saban decided he doesn't like a level playing field.

I think Mike Price is available...

Something like 9 Tide players entered the transfer portal after losing to Michigan. Maybe the word was already leaking to the team then.
Also today, after Saban's announcement, a 5-star WR recruit (#9 overall according to ESPN) decommitted from Bama.

Phenomenal coach and run. He was far, far from washed. They almost made the natty two weeks ago! He's not retiring because he's afraid of rule changes or whatever. My guess is he's retiring because he's accomplished everything he wanted to beyond his wildest dreams already, and is just getting older. Good for him.

NIL changed the landscape and a lot of older coaches don't want the headaches.
Alabama should go after PJ Fleck =) :p B) |
