2. Minnesota Vikings (via HOU) Will Levis QB, Kentucky
…Surprise! You may have seen the betting odds change for the No. 2 overall pick on Saturday, with Will Levis becoming the odds-on favorite. But I don’t think that’s because the Texans are taking him. I’ve heard loud rumblings that Minnesota is very active in trying to trade up for a quarterback and I think they will pull off a blockbuster here. Levis will succeed Kirk Cousins after the Vikings chose not to extend the latter beyond this season. There is a major disconnect between how fans and those inside the NFL view Will Levis. Don’t get me wrong, there are several people in the NFL who are uninterested in drafting Levis this high, but there are plenty who believe he is absolutely worth the cost with the upside to be the best passer in the class when it’s all said and done."

I would rather keep Cousins and work out an extension. Use the picks we would need to mortgage the future with to move up that high and build out the rest of the team. We definitely need to draft a QB, but not at the expense of everything else. If KOC is as good as advertised with QBs, then finding one he can develop after the 1st round makes a lot more sense. For a lot of teams, Levis is the 4th best QB in this draft. He has all the physical tools, but his questionable decision making is a concern.

I think the thought would be to backfill with FA signings instead of draft picks.....losing Cousins contract would free up a ton. I think KAM likes to take a swing at more known quantities in free agency with upside.
Again, not saying any strategy is particularly wrong. I don't know what the answer is. But I do know what happens when a franchise hits it big with a QB: you contend every year. If they feel that way about a guy, then go get him. Not saying they do, saying IF they do.
Who knows the truth anymore, but they should love Will Levis. One thing I've discovered to be mostly true: What you hear early (January) tends to be true. What you hear late (week of draft) tends to be true. What you hear in between is 100% smoke.
The cost to go from 23 to 2 would be a minimum of 3 #1 picks.
Are you willing to spend ‘23s, ‘24s and ‘25s #1. We’d likely beed more then that to make it happen.
So unless Hunter, Cousins, Cook, Z Smith is involved AND the Texans think those players are worth anything. It just isn’t happening.
If they love Levis and can get him without 3x #1s? Then go for it, but damn thats betting a lot on one player.
I thought for sure the Texans are going to take the kid from Bama; Will Anderson Jr.

Again, not saying any strategy is particularly wrong. I don't know what the answer is. But I do know what happens when a franchise hits it big with a QB: you contend every year. If they feel that way about a guy, then go get him. Not saying they do, saying IF they do.
The draft capital you would need to move up to #2 would set this team back for years because we already have too many holes. As good as Cousins was last year, we still couldn't overcome the incompetence on Defense. I'm fine moving up for Levis if he drops to a reasonable striking distance, but #2 is a fairy tale. After Young and Stroud, the rest of the QB's are major crap shoots. My preference is to still trade down, and even out of the first all together if we can accumulate more 2nd and 3rd round picks. If we are set on drafting a QB in the first, I like the idea of waiting to see if Hooker falls to them at 23. If we trade down, he still might be there at the end of the first but it would be risky. It's the perfect scenario. He sits for a year, heals his leg, and learns under Cousins. If we drafted a QB at #2, then Cousins should be moved and the Rookie should be a day 1 starter.

They're all crap shoots IMO. And, personally, I'd put CJ Stroud at the top of the crappy shooty list. IMO, he's the QB that will be most shocked by how different the NFL game is to what he experienced in college. And I'm just not sure he has the poise, intelligence or mental toughness to overcome that. Could be wrong, but he's my pick for most likely to bust.
