I am not an informed draft addict like others on this board -- I don't watch endless film etc. But reading the tea leaves, this is what I think.
- Vikings want to draft Hooker but not at the current 1st round spot. They will take the risk to trade down into the second and then draft Hooker. If the risk fails...
- Vikings will call 49ers and try to trade for Lance. They should have an extra pick and will trade a 3rd for Lance. If 49ers say no....
- Vikings will draft DTR from UCLA in the 3rd. If all of these fail, then the Vikes are screwed.

Agree with that being the general idea. It makes sense--though there are probably a couple other mid-round QBs besides DTR that might interest the Vikings.
Don't think the Vikings are screwed if all of those fail. I think they just extend Cousins again short-term and try again next year.
I think the Vikings will try and acquire a QB. I just dont know if they'll be serious about it or not.
IOW, a first rounder? Or take a flyer on a later guy in the 5th. I suspect the latter as they just dont have the draft capital to move up this year and I dont know how much interest they'll garner with DC or Z as assets to trade.
I dont think they want to trade DH.

Agree. I don't think they can trade both DH and Hunter. That leaves only Davenport and some depth as our edge rushers. Tend to think this would upset our new DC. I think Hunter gets the deal he deserves at some point this summer, reducing his cap number.
Not sure why but I have a feeling Kwesi is going to make a major move in this draft, so I'm going to go out on a limb and guess they make a huge jump for a QB, either Levis or Stroud. I really think they want to find a QB of the future to sit behind Kirk for a year before handing them the reigns.
Not saying it's the right or wrong move, but it'll definitely be Kwesi's and KOC's stamp on this team for better or for worse.

Yah, I dont think Flores is going to be pounding the table for a QB early in the draft lol!
There are several ways the Vikings can go, and the rumors and published mocks are all over the map. With 10 days til the draft there are a few things that stand out to me and I think I know what they will do.
1 Trade down, they must get more picks, a trade down is going to happen, not sure when but I am almost sure they will trade down in the '23 draft.
2 draft a WR, just looking at roster, I think KO will need to add at least 1 WR that has the upside of a WR 2 or 3.
3 draft a CB, Again the curent dept chart screams that at least 1 CB that may need to play in '23 will be drafted.
4 Cook and or Z Smith will be traded or released. While Z could be forced to stay and play under his contract, Cook needs to either take a real pay cut or be will be gone. Look at the NFL, RBs are not getting this money anymore and with his age he cannot play under his '23 contract. Look no further than Aaron Jones and his restructure to stay in GB and why he agreed.
5 A LB will be taken in this draft... I know, not a huge leap of faith, but they need some depth and a hopefully can get a LB that has some upside and not just a ST player.
6 QB, while I am not sold on them using a top pick at QB, they need to add someone at the most important position on the roster. I know they are doing do dilagence, and they have to be prepared for anything that could happen next week.
Just my thoughts, what do you think you know???

A WR to pair with JJ makes a ton of sense and its been discussed on here a lot as a major need.
Too bad, so many needs and so few picks this year.

If WR is the pick at 23 or via a slight trade back, we should in theory be hoping for a second WR1. Thielen is older now but he's still a WR1 now in Carolina. The Vikings offense has been blessed with having JJ/AT and Moss/CC before them. A lot more fun than the Bernard Berrian, Jerome Simpson years. With KJO being an FA after this year, a first round WR absolutely makes sense.
KC has Kelce and traded Tyreek, but PHI last year had AJ Brown and DeVonte Smith-- arguably two WR1 types. MIA flamed out after Tua was hurt but with Tyreek and Waddle it's same deal. Kupp/Woods/OBJ crew won the Super Bowl the year prior and we all know about Tampa's weapons before them. With Hockenson on the roster we could go more of the Shanahan mold (Deebo-Kittle) but they also traded a bundle for CMC. If we're dealing Dalvin Cook that's tougher to pull off but maybe possible.
Point is, yes the defense has holes galore but adding talented weapons on offense remains critical in today's NFL. Whether it's Kirk or even more importantly if it's a less experienced QB running the offense in a year or two.
