Supafreak84's Mock Draft 1.0
#1
Le's try this again. I think the issue is trying to include the highlight reels, so I'll include those in a different post in the thread. But yeah, I'm basing this mock on need and what I think the front office might do based on what they've done in the past. So lets get to it..

* I think the team is going to trade down, so let's go ahead and trade with the only team in the division we haven't yet in the Chicago Bears as it would make sense for both teams. So with that said, the Vikings trade their first round pick (#23) to the Bears for picks #53 and #61 in the second round, along with pick #103 in the fourth, which would be the top pick of day three and a valuable pick.

Vikings Draft:

2. (53) Jonathan Mingo, WR Ole Miss- The more I watch him, the more I like him. Big (6'2"/220) physical kid who really came on for Ole Miss this season. Reminds me a little of another former Rebel in AJ Brown. Ran 4.46 with a 39.5 vertical at the combine. Makes difficult catches and runs by defenders. The Vikings have a glaring hole at WR and can not allow teams to double Jefferson and hope Osborn can beat them. Mingo would compete to start immediately.

2. (61) Jack Campbell, LB Iowa- He doesn't look real twitchy on tape but he graded out as the top athlete at his position at the combine. Great size for the position and extremely productive for Iowa. Has been training with Luke Kuechly, who thinks Campbell can be every bit as good as he was. I firmly believe the Vikings need a bigger LB to pair with Asamoah inside in the 3-4 and Campbell fits the bill.

3. (87) Gervon Dexter, DT Florida- This is another kid I really like as a prototypical 5 technique (6'6"/310) who is just scratching the surface. He should benefit from NFL coaching putting his physical tools together. The Vikings need an influx of talent all along the defensive line and Dexter would get reps early as a rotational player.

4. (103) Dorian Thompson-Robinson, QB UCLA- Here's the QB pick and I like him the best out of the second wave at QB in this draft. Started a ton of games at UCLA and is well schooled under Chip Kelly. Ran 4.56 at the combine and is an athlete. Excellent getting outside the pocket and making plays with his legs and arm. The Vikings need to get off the Kirk Cousins hostage train and maybe DTR would be the guy to get us off the tracks.

4. (119) Keondre Coburn, NT Texas- This is another kid I really like. True nose tackle at 6'2"/335 pounds. Lots of starting experience. Powerful kid who pushes the pocket but also has an excellent swim moves and uses his hands well. The Vikings need to continue adding talent to the defensive line and Coburn would be another excellent selection who would push for reps.

5. (158) Cory Trice, CB Purdue- This is a kid who's been gaining steam. Great size (6'3"/206) with long arms. Ran 4.46 at the combine. Some teams feel he is a little stiff and might be a better fit at safety, but I heard a lot of those same arguments about Tariq Woolen last year, who was another guy I wanted to draft. Press man specialist and physical. Not afraid to stick his nose in against the run. The Vikings need all the help they can get at cornerback and Trice would fit what Flores want's to do.

6. (211) Trevor Downing, C Iowa State- Bigger center who started a lot of games and was a lynch pin on that Cyclone line. The Vikings need to continue to push Bradbury and bring in competition that might eventually upgrade the position.

The bottom line is the Vikings absolutely have to get contributors from this draft and hope the bust class from last year steps up and does the same. We have a lot of holes to fill and positions that need upgrades.

So you hate Kwesi so much you think he’s going to pass the whole draft?

I would be tickled pink if we get Campbell.  Kid is just always around the ball.

Campbell has grown on me after the combine where he alleviated any concerns about his athleticism. The Vikings might have the good fortune to land Campbell in the second round like they did another former Butkus winner in EJ Henderson.
