Vikings Safety Lewis Cine Continues to Show Progress in Recovery From Leg Injury

Here’s some positive news.

Cine, the Vikings' first-round draft pick out of Georgia, suffered a compound fracture of his left leg while playing on special teams during the Week 4 game in London. A compound fracture is a gruesome injury in which the skin breaks near the broken bone. Cine underwent multiple surgical procedures and remained in London for a few days afterwards before returning to Minnesota to embark a long rehab process.
Less than a month later, Cine was spotted walking without assistance.
It's now been four months since Cine's injury, and he's been able to work out and strengthen his leg as he aims to be ready for the 2023 season. He's shared several workout pictures on social media over the last month or so, and on Friday, he posted a video that displays some of the progress he's made.

Assuming he's fully recovered, I'm cautiously optimistic the new D Coordinator will figure out how to use him and his skill set. We need impact players on Defense. Being able to get that from existing players will go a long way towards our turnaround.

good  for the young man,  I am not expecting him to ever be able to meet the expectations of his draft position,  but I am very happy for him that it looks like he will be able to at least still try and make a career out of the game he loves.

we are gonna need him. Opposing offenses picked on Bynum a lot with success. Im quite sure we need another year out of hitman whatever shakes out with Cine and Bynum. 

weird because bynum was damn good in Zimmers system so a big bounceback is possible.

one thing I think I learned watching this D over the last 40+ years,  its damn tough to know who screws the pooch when a D isnt working.  Sure sometimes its very apparent,  but there are a lot of times a guy is late to the party and gets blamed,  but in fact he is just reacting to what he saw and is covering for another player who was out of position.  IIRC we saw this quite a bit with Greenway a few years before he retired,  he was catching all sorts of shit on the fan boards, but it came to be that he was more often than not trying to play his position and help out with a few others,  I have wondered how much of the hitmans "decline" are actually on him trying to do more than what his role is in that mess we had last year.

Amen is it a case of out of position or hesitancy because of someone else slow to recognize the play developing

There's no reason he can't come all the way back. Its all about the rehab. Throwing dirt on the kid's grave with this is way premature.
