John Michael Schmitz

Would you get rid of Bradbury and draft Schmitz at #23?

I love the kid, he's tough and hard-nosed.

But no, too many other needs at 23 and too few picks this year.

Looking at the teams that played over the weekend, they all had a pass rush that made me envious. #23 has to be a pass rusher unless a QB that they like falls.

Draft tomorrow, it should be a corner. But given the youth at the position, I'd much rather fill that need with a veteran, leaving LB or DL as higher priorities. Right now I'm leaning toward the fatty in Waco. And only if we add a CB and at least 1 of the above in free agency should this be an offensive player. And even then, it should be a WR. I can almost guarantee this pick will not be an OL.

Regarding the OL, I try to get Bradbury on a 2-year deal and bring back the same five. If someone gives GB first-tier money, then I'd just have Schlottmann, Reed and Sokol fight it out. If he doesn't retire, one option is Jason Kelce on another one-year deal. He's 35 and is due $30M in guarantees if he's on the roster in June. So he won't be. At least not on the same deal.

Nope,

We have so many holes to fill I am looking at what is there,  but am likely looking to trade down and pick up multiple day 2 picks.  If there is a stud sitting there that fills a position of need ( DL or LB ) then yes,  but otherwise I am going to be look like I am riding with MB,  vets in FA for DBs,  and rolling with our younger cheaper guys already on the roster.  ( I dont really see much upside in bringing GB back, I didnt see the growth that others say they saw )

If we trade down, then Schmitz is definitely an option with the additional picks we will get. He is not a first round talent. He is the top rated Center but should be available in the late 2nd, early 3rd. I would love to see him replace Bradbury. I would love to see any competent center replace Bradbury. Watching Jones completely destroy the Bengals OLine last night was just another reminder of how important having a Center who can actually hold their ground as a pass blocker is, and should be one of our biggest priorities. The Chiefs interior OLine was incredible at keeping Mahomes clean and upright all night.

We're all going to be envious watching Kelcey play at the SB too.

I will be curios as to see what Spags does with Clark....  damn I love watching that kid play....  a big athletic DT is about the closest thing to a key to success a person can ask for...that and a future HOF QB on a rookie deal and you pretty much might as well just leave the trophy case door unlocked.

Now granted we switched to the 3/4 this past year, but is it safe to say the Vikings have had a difficult time filling that DT spot since Shariff Floyd went lame?

Double the hurt when the real heritage of the Vikings is Defense and DL.

but have they really tried to draft a top notch DT?  you want to talk about curses... imagine if they had gone any other position in 13 besides DT and would have  been still picking as early as they did in 14..... does anybody think they dont take Donald in 14?   lets talk about the curse of the Floyd.
