Jalen Ramsey

Rumor is if he becomes available via trade, the Vikings are expected to be one of the teams highly interested in his services. I'm not sure exactly how we'd pull that off outside of trading actual players since our draft capital is so low. Maybe Dalvin Cook for Ramsey?

There's plenty of money and trade assets to be found if you're willing to make sacrifices. Rams have been desperately looking for a back since Gurley, and it ain't Akers, so I could see interest in Cook.

Yeah, I guess I’d have to see an overall strategy to try and
figure out if this makes sense.  I think that
if you can get Ramsey for a low amount of draft capital it makes sense in the
same way that the Hockenson trade made sense, but I think the more you hit that
expensive veteran button instead of drafting a cheap rookie, the more you shorten
your window.  That said I could see us playing
out 2-3 years with Cousins and then hitting a harder reset button.  I think Ramsey swapped in for Thielen or
Smith for similar money is a clear upgrade, but you’d probably be trying to
renegotiate them to a lower number so not a 1:1.

Ramsey's contract is a 25 million dollar cap hit next season with a potential out in 2024. Otherwise, he is under contract in 2024 with an almost 27 million dollar cap hit, and an almost 23 million dollar cap hit in 2025. For a team struggling with cap issues and a quarterback situation to address, I don't know how we'd swing it. Dalvin Cooks cap hit on his contract is only in the mid teens as far as a cap hit.

The Rams really went all in on their super bowl and mortgaged the future. It's easy to see why McVay has been flirting with "retirement" the last couple offseasons

Given our youth at the position, I definitely favor adding a veteran corner over using our 1st rounder on one. One free agent to consider is Pittsburgh's Cameron Sutton. Would cost nothing in trade, 27 years old, market is estimated at 7M per, 72 PFF grade, has played inside and out. And, if we can land Brian Flores, Sutton would come with knowledge of the defense.

Only problem is Pittsburgh will probably resign him. I've seen him on two lists of players teams "can't afford to lose."

Agreed, I think we need a vet in that room, but not sure the most expensive CB on the market is the one we need.

Our defense is old, slow and expensive.  I know how to fix it!!!   Bring in someone old, slow and expensive!!!

Agree, definitely don't want them going this route. Need youth and speed not old and pricey.

Assuming you're referring to Ramsey, because Sutton is far from that.

I was big on Sutton last off-season but he re-signed with Pitt and will be even more expensive now. Good corner though.
