Ty Chandler was a bright spot on Sunday
#1
5 carries/50 yards

Granted it was against back-up's...

They aint going to be able to stash him on practice squad; I'll say that much as of 8/15

Cook
Mattison
Fast Kenny
Chandler?

Vikings have a strong RB group. IT would not shock me to see Mattison in a trade maybe for a C. Hell, the team may actually be set now @ OG

The Offensive line sealed off some pretty big holes for the RBs yesterday...again..granted it was 2nd and 3rd team vs 2nd or 3rd team.  Not sure how much of the success was the backs...and how much was the line.

I love Nwangwu's quickness and Chandler looks really good, lot of power and quick too. I think they both make the roster but also doubt they move Mattison.

Absolutely great blocking by that O line, but those backs are also amazing. Ty may end up being the returner.
Sure would be nice to see some blocking like that from the starting line!

For a guy listed fourth on the depth chart at running back and third at kickoff returner, Ty Chandler sure did put on a show Sunday.Chandler, a Vikings rookie running back from North Carolina, carried five times for 50 yards in his preseason debut, a 26-20 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. And he returned a kickoff 56 yards in the third quarter.
“It was a wonderful opportunity,’’ Chandler said. “I’ve got a lot of great teammates that push me to get better every day, so it was just all about going out and executing and having fun. So it was just a blessing just to be out there.’’
Chandler is listed on the depth chart at running back behind starter Dalvin Cook, who was rested Sunday, Alexander Mattison, who started and carried three times for eight yards, and second-year man Kene Nwangwu. Nwangwu also had a strong game, carrying seven times for 41 yards.

Nwangwu is the team’s primary kickoff returner, although he wasn’t used in that role Sunday. Second on the depth chart is wide receiver K.J. Osborn and third is Chandler. Wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette actually isn’t even listed on the depth chart, but he returned the first three kickoffs Sunday.
Then it was Chandler’s turn. In the third quarter, he took the ball at the Minnesota 3 and broke outside and ran down the right side 56 yards to the Raiders 41. That led to a 2-yard touchdown pass from Kellen Mond to Albert Wilson, which cut the deficit to 16-13.
“Man, they loved it,’’ Chandler said about his teammates’ reaction to the return. “They were just encouraging me, man.”
At running back, Chandler showed great quickness bursting through holes. He had Minnesota’s two longest runs of the game, a 14-yard dash in the second quarter and a 13-yard run in the fourth quarter.
“I thought across the board he’s pretty decisive in the run game, put his foot down and gets north and south,” said Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell.

Chandler said he got plenty of help in his debut.
“A big shoutout to the O-line and my running back room,’’ he said. “I mean, just getting me ready and pushing me every day to get better.”
“We’ve got a lot of great guys in the running back room,’’ Chandler said. “I just enjoy being in there and getting the chance to learn from those guys.’’

Unless there are injuries, Chandler might find it difficult to get too many carries during the regular season. But on Sunday, he certainly had his moments.

It's nice to see what happens when different people draft.

I remember when we drafted him NFLN flashed his stats (I'd never heard of him) and I thought, "We just got a 1,000 yard rusher who runs a 4.39 at #169?"  Just get him a crease and byeeee  B)

Love his speed...and he catches the ball like a WR. Former 4-star recruit. Could have something here.

Mattison would net maybe a 6th or 7th round pick? Probably better to just keep him around and then part ways after the season. Was cool to see the young guys flash too though. RB room is looking solid and I agree, we'll likely keep all 4 on the team unless something drastic happens between now and final 53 day.
