Onside kick return: you can just flip it out of bounds?
#1
So on an onside kick return you can just flip it out of bounds?

I didn't know that was legal. Haven't really seen that before.

Huh. You never stop learning.

You can.  No harm to foul.  It was a live ball after he touched it though.

There was a freaky play about 2-3 years back where the packers somehow hit a ball out of bounds and it ended up getting them to the 35 for the kicking team kicking it out of bounds.  Thought that was BS.

It's a live ball after it travels 10 yards on a kick off.

It was a live ball before he touched it. That's what an onside kick is.

IIRC the guy that hit it out of bounds was standing 1 foot in and 1 foot out and so he technically was considered OB when he touched the ball.  There was no call for illegal touching since he never re-entered the field of play.  it was a bull shit call,  but by the tortured letter of the rules it was the right call.  I think the fact that it went to a team I dont particularly care for is my biggest issue with that call.

He went all the way out of bounds and then reached in to down the ball.

Packers love to figure out ways to skirt the rules, cheat the system and do other stupid stuff.  Rodgers is the worst.  On one of those "free plays" where he rushes to the line to catch 12 men, I would love to see someone fly through and blast him.

i have often wondered why somebody doesnt just kick the ball out of the centers hand and give up the 5 yards, you know he is going to crush you in those instance quit often.... but yeah it would be fun to see somebody crush rogers... anytime and every time he is on the field.

Well you know he going to snap it quick and throw deep.  So just blitz LBs and crush him.

it would be an intersting concept, send everybody but the DBs in an all out QB blitz.

Me to, I don't encourage intentional roughing but I'd like to see someone knock the $hit out of him when he does that crap.  I think its ridiculous.
