The elixir for every fanbase will be right there for the drinking in 2023: drafting a QB. Unless we trade down out of QB range....right KAM?
Mel Kiper has put the over/under on the number of QBs drafted in the first round in 2023 at 6.5. We shall see.
The elixir is poison. Teams too good to pick in the top half of the 1st round. We'll have to trade a player, and future 1sts to get anywhere near those top QBs. And that's not really a foundation for growth. Too bad we didn't have a high pick this year we could've turned into 23 draft capital.
Oh wait. We did.
This remains my biggest complaint about the draft. Kwesi did exactly as I wanted him to. Trade down big in the 1st round, get your DB there and pick up a 1st rounder next year. Except they forgot something. God that still irritates me.
How bout them Yankees?

My reason for starting this type thread is we know about 60% of the fanbase will blame Cousins for any kind of season without the playoffs and the savior will be there in rookie QB form as is the norm with fans.

Sure, but I see every thread is an opportunity to vent about the "great heist of 2022." Best and mostly likely way out of this? Cousins doing so well they extend him again and use the '23 1st for Thielen's replacement.

That would be awesome. Fingers crossed. But reptilian and emotionally scarred Viking's fan brain says I'll need to see it first.

If only there was a great receiver we could have drafted ar #12

Then we likely wouldn't have either Cine or Booth. And if you're talking about Williams, nor a receiver who will help us in 2022.

Not getting extra picks for next year AND dipping into next year's draft by trading away a 2023 fourth. I like that KAM seems to have conviction about "his guys" and is more than willing to trade up or down to get them, but falling in love with guys rather than taking what the draft gives you can also be a curse. Definitely a mixed bag for his first go-round since I do like a lot of the guys we wound up with.
If KC plays out of his mind then more power to him and the Vikings but yeah I'm for sure in the camp of wanting to draft a QB in the first at some point. Mac Jones was there last year. Kenny Pickett was there this year. Lamar Jackson a few years back. I don't know how good those guys can or will turn out to be, but at some point that's the type of player we're going to end up with if we're drafting in the teens every year. OR, you build enough capital to move up.
