QB Spencer Rattler

Seems to be pegged around the 3rd round. 5 star physical qualities that has underperformed and never realized that potential. Is he worth a roll of the dice in round 3 or 4? I'm sure some teams would be interested. But he's got the classic never-going-to-be look that so many other QBs with talent drafted in the mid-rounds just fade away.

In lieu of taking one in the first,  no,  but if he were still there day 3 and they think he's a steal and they have given up hope for mullens....sure.

My hot draft take is that Rattler will be drafted at the back half of the 2nd round. Somewhere between #50 & #64.

I think a team looking for a backup will draft Rattler late on day two and hope they strike gold. I don't see him going to a team who needs a starter. IOW, not Minnesota, Denver, etc. He might even be a Cousins special, where he goes in the middle rounds to one of the teams who took their starter early in the draft.

In a QB rich draft, he is someone who could getting overlooked.  Another guy who really intrigues me is Joe Milton, who easily has the best arm in the draft.  He is not someone I would draft as my lone QB pick, but if we took a QB in the first and Milton is there in the later rounds, I would consider him.  I think of the year the Redskins took RGIII at 2 and then drafted Cousins in the 4th or the 49ers taking Purdy in the 7th after having drafted Lance the year before.  With the most important position on the field, it can be worth taking a few shots at it.

He's a day 3 pick in any other draft. I think he still is in this draft. Just too much real tape on him to show he's not consistent enough to be a starter in the league. Teams don't draft backups on purpose unless they have enough 6th and 7th rounders to spare.

Rattler isn’t my style of QB, but he might actually be better at the next level than he was at Carolina. I’m doubtful  develop into a starter, but should be a serviceable backup. 
He reminds me of Jeff Garcia when I watch him play.

this.  I just don't see it, when in all likelihood we will draft one at 11 or 23.  Why waste a pick on a backup...we have backups.

He went from being a Heisman candidate to getting benched  in 6 weeks at OU

Caleb Williams took the job and Rattler   was forced to transfer. Rattler got served a  slice of humble pie.

Seemed like he got caught up in off the field  ( NIL and selling merch) stuff instead of what matters,  playing and improving  on the field.  

At South Carolina he was decent, but didn't exactly kill it.
