Urban Says The Quiet Part Out Loud
#1
ProFootballTalk reports the NFLPA has opened an investigation into the Jaguars over coach Urban Meyer's comments on the vaccination status of players.
PFT did not clarify the exact nature of the investigation but it can be added to the long list of controversies that have plagued Meyer's initial months in Jacksonville. Meyer admitted that the Jaguars' decision-makers considered a player's vaccination status when choosing who to cut to reach their final roster. This makes sense from a strategic standpoint. Players who aren't vaccinated are more likely to miss time and run the risk of taking other players out with them. However, the collective bargaining agreement prohibits teams from using vaccination status as a factor in employment decisions. Given how forthcoming Meyer was with this information, he stands little chance of getting out of this mess without some form of punishment.

If a player is unvaccinated, they have to jump through a series of hoops and their chances of missing time is considerably higher. This is no different than a player with mental health issues or injury histories. Of course you're going to factor that in. I guess just don't talk about it.

#Patriots coach Bill Belichick was asked if Cam Newton being unvaccinated played into his decision: “no.”

Anyone who doesnt believe vax status plays a part in roster decisions is naive, stoopid or both. And if you're NFL or team personnel and admit it? You're just as dumb.

The NFL cracks me up....if you don't speak it, it doesn't exist. Of course it plays a part with players!! Coaches need to win #$%^ing football games and if your starter is out because of protocols, you LOSE GAMES.

The #Jaguars play one "home" game in London this year. Unvaccinated players have to quarantine for 10 days on arrival and miss at least one game (either the week prior or the game in the UK). All other reasons aside, that's a pretty damn good reason to factor it into the roster.

Why are we having a game in the UK if the teams that play have to either sit their guys the week before or of?
