The WTFs Fined $10 Million, Danny Boy Striped Of Power
#1
Headline: NFL fines WFT $10 million.
Bigger story buried in the release: NFL indefinitely strips ultimate power over the team from Daniel Snyder and indefinitely suspends him from day-to-day team operations.

Then there’s this: Buried at the bottom of the release published on one day before one of the prime bad-news dump afternoons of the year, the league essentially suspended Daniel Snyder. In the next-to-last paragraph of a 29-paragraph press release, the NFL says this: “As co-CEO, Tanya Snyder will assume responsibilities for all day-to-day team operations and represent the club at all league meetings and other league activities for at least the next several months. Dan Snyder will concentrate on a new stadium plan and other matters.”
That’s a very significant statement. Basically, Tanya Snyder has the ultimate control of the team, as far as the league is concerned. And ultimate control — as we’ve recently seen in Tennessee and currently are witnessing in Denver — is a huge issue.
She’ll have it “for at least the next several months,” which basically means Daniel Snyder has been suspended indefinitely, and that his ability to return to his usual role, the one he’s held for more than 20 years, will be determined at a later date.
The league doesn’t call it a suspension, and many won’t even regard it as one. But it is. It definitely is. And it explains Tuesday’s sudden move to make Tanya Snyder co-CEO and co-owner.

LOL.  Control of the WFT was taken from Daniel Snyder and given to . . . his wife!  How in the world will Snyder be able to run the WFT when control of the team is now in the hands of a completely independent and autonomous entity over whom he has absolutely no control or influence of any kind?  This will definitely send a strong message to other owners around the League.

What if they made Snyder pay the $10M fine to his wife?  Would people really think that Snyder was being punished?  The NFL should require Snyder to take one million dollars from the night stand on his side of the bed and put it in the night stand on his wife's side of the bed.

Yeah, I thought the same.  But the NFL specializes in symbolic gestures.

Snyder has crapped all over the Redskin fan base for 20 years.

I think it's gonna get worse.

A lot worse.

No doubt. This is the tip of the iceberg.
