Top Safety Duo?

Not long after signing, I've heard where Woods would be lucky to survive the Viking roster cuts.  It would be awesome to have him as a reliable starter making plays next to Harry.

I like that the Vikings have restructured their secondary to make more financial sense. 14 months ago Zimmer made the comment that you probably don't want to have pots of money going to the safety position and he was right. We were paying our safeties almost $30 million and next to nothing going to our corners. Now it's more balanced.

He's a great communicator. Leadership qualities. Its great these new signings, this year's draft picks (and last year's) get this chance to train and practice together, bond and get to know each other.

Everywhere I look I see potential and legit reasons for optimism...

As a decades long Viking fan I learned to enjoy the ride, regardless of outcome.

But can't quite help feel like...

For sure. We've only known bitter disappointment to end any Viking's season. Like you say, I just try to enjoy the ride and see what happens. For me, there's no way to shake the feeling that the other shoe will eventually drop.....because it always has.

I think the best safety on this roster will end up being Bynum, he has all the tools and is a relentless student of the game, in addition, he just seems to have that it factor.  Reminds me of Diggs.  Smith's play has really dropped, but hopefully an overall stronger secondary and defense will help him this year.

IMO Smiths play has dropped largely due to him being asked to do everything,  if they can get a decent pass rush and the CBs can do a little better job in coverage we wont need Smith to play 4 positions on every snap.

That's a bold prediction about Bynum considering that he's transitioning from CB. I've never seen him play, so I'll take your word for it.
