If Danielle holds out for the year, he loses a potential maximum of $12.75 million of salary this year. He also has to pay back $ 5 million in prorated signing bonus money. And he contract tolls, meaning he would still be under contract for 3 more years.

he wouldnt hold out for the whole year, I think Ive read they can report in October and still get credit for the year and only suffer the lost game checks. I do think its premature to be talking about any holdout, let alone an extended one.

Yep. Melvin Gordon did this a few years ago with LAC. Holding out didn’t really work out for him, but DEs are valued a lot more around the league than RB. Talking holdouts is premature but the Hunter situation is becoming hard to ignore.
I don’t know if we “NEED” him in order for the team to be good, but he would certainly help a lot. Awesome player.
EDIT- And for anyone who’s thinking “he has 3 years left and was hurt last year, he better play!” You’re right. But it’s not 1995 or even 2005 anymore. The odds he plays all 3 years or even 2 more seasons on his current deal is somewhere around the likelihood of that Kate Upton/Barr rendevous finally happening.

On whose part? I think both sides have legit arguments. But y'know what? We don't even know that there IS an argument.
I sort of think that sometime in late summer Hunter gets a new contract that pays him more in line with his performance. At that point, we'll likely hear that there never was a hold out threat and there never was any unwillingness on the Vikings' part to re-do the deal. So far, all of this is just speculation and hearsay on the parts of b-team reporters and the twit-o-verse. We'll see...
