Anyone bet online? I'm not a bettor at all, having placed ONE bet in Vegas in the last 20 years. But with the Vikings being so underrated this year, I thought it would be a good year to see if it's any fun.
Problem is getting money deposited into your account. Based on all the notes I read on Betonline.ag, it can be hard to get cards to go through. They recommend Bitcoin, but I have no idea how to get money into that, or how it works from there.
Any suggestions? Or alternative betting sites?
Here's what sucks for me: I used to LOVE to play online poker (FullTilt). When I'd travel for business, I'd come back to my hotel room after dinner and play a few hours of poker on my laptop. Really enjoyed it. But my state doesn't allow it (Florida) after Congress snuck in a law to shut it down years ago. :/ The reason I bring it up is Florida just passed an expanded mobile online betting/gaming law that doesn't include poker.

I bet for the first time on an online site last year for the first time. I don't bet much, maybe 15 games a year for no more then $100. The advantage to these online sites is that you can bet anything - Theilan will have 50+ yards etc... I just looked back at my emails...I was able to deposit $250 (269 after fee's) using my Capital One Card. Capital One sent me an email asking if I was familiar with the charge and I responded Yes. I did try my main CC through my credit union and that was rejected.
I got the $250 up to $1200 at one point. So I figured I would double my money and took out $500 and then proceeded to lose the other $700. I remember I won like $400 on the Redskins TE - ex college QB - for some reason can't remember name! Anyway, it was fun and better then just betting straight up through my friend. I also, was looking at the Vikings odds of Division, Conference, SB but I promised myself to never bet on my Vikings!
Oh - I used Betonline sports. Theses sites offer bonus dollars when you first sign up but they are basically a waste of time. So don't use that gimmick to decide your site - FYI

Dude has 50 years of the Vikings not taught you that they'll find a way to kick you square in the nuts? We could be up in the Superbowl by 30 points at the 2 minute warning and figure out a way to lose.

my golden rule of sports betting... Never bet on the Vikings... but Never bet against them either. I dont know of any other franchise in any sport more pre-destined to win the ones they shouldnt and lose the ones they should easily win.... and dont even get me started on the fucking spread....
I've bet online since the late 90's. Betonline.ag is a decent book. There are a few others out there I trust/use like Heritage, Intertops and Bookmaker. Yes the funding can be a pain and yes you could try to figure out bitcoin, I started down that road but got frustrated. And the way bitcoin is diving, you might buy 500 bucks and by the time you get it in the account it would be worth 300 or the like. Wouldn't touch it at this point.
However I had luck with calling my CC company and advising them that I was doing a foreign transaction along with the name that would show up and got them to approve it. With Betonline.ag do not just do this via the web, call one of their reps, I did this and got 100% match bonus and they covered all transaction fees for the deposit. So if you put say 500 in, you'll have a thousand in the account (albeit, the extra 500 will have a fairly big rollover requirement). Have them tell you what the transaction will show as on the cc then make the call. Most books will bend over to get a new customer because there is a lot of competition.
Also some very shady books to stay away from. If you want info/discussion about books or advice/ratings, as well as a decent free line service that shows a bunch of major books in relative real time, SBR is your best option imho - https://www.sportsbookreview.com/
You can put real money on your feeling that we can contend - SB odds on the Vikes are currently in the 40-1 to 50-1 range. Good luck!
Thanks for all the advice! Some good stuff here. I will listen to the advice about how to fund my account and which site to use, but never your advice about the Vikings. Ya'll aren't particularly known for being in touch with reality when it comes to the good guys. And I will say that I've never once before felt confidant enough in the separation between Vegas/public outlook on the Vikes and what I think the team is capable of. So there.
1. I like the super long odds of Cousins winning MVP. I think it's 6600. I don't know what that means but guessing if I put $100 on it, I win $6600? Or is it $660? I told you I'm a novice.
2. I really like the not so long odds of the Vikings winning the division or making the playoffs. Not a lot to win there, but that could be easy money and worth a dip.
3. Super Bowl, baby! Why not? Long odds but probably no longer than Tampa winning last year at this time coming off 7-9.
And no, I wouldn't bet money I couldn't afford to lose. And since my ONE bet paid big, I can say I've never lost.
