Why the hell does Washington always do this? $52M in cap space and they're franchising one of the best young guards in the game. Why not just give him a market-value contract? Just a thought.
Franchise tags piss off players (see Cousins). Snyder has franchise tagged Scherff as many times in the last two years as the Vikings have used the tag in its 25 year history.

Gotta do something to keep people wanting to play for that horrible owner in that horrible city.

Have to think part of the reason they tagged Scherff again was because he may not want to be there long term? Maybe he does. Scherff is a true Midwest guy who loves the outdoors, so perhaps he is wanting to be somewhere long term where we can enjoy a nicer city...and owner.
Happy to see him get paid again though!

I loved living in DC. I was in that area, including Northern Virginia and Maryland for 4 years. I turned down a job offer to leave because I still felt like a tourist. There is so much history and culture that you can spend years just touring museums, visiting monuments, experiencing great international cuisine, etc. It was a dream for that period of my life.
On the downside, it's definitely congested and expensive. But I was okay with that trade off at the time.

They still can trade him.
I would be asking them about Da'Ron Payne. I am not sure they can pay him next year. |
