Biden set to formally introduce his national security team
By MATTHEW LEE and ALEXANDRA JAFFE Associated PressNovember 24, 2020 — 8:35am
The picks for national security and foreign policy posts include former Secretary of State John Kerry, who will take the lead on combating climate change. They're slated to join Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris at an in-person event in Wilmington, Delaware, Tuesday afternoon, where they'll each deliver their first remarks as Biden's nominees.

Outside the realm of national security and foreign policy, Biden is expected to choose Janet Yellen as the first woman to become treasury secretary. She was nominated by President Barack Obama to lead the Federal Reserve, the first woman in that position, and served from 2014 to 2018.
Biden's emerging Cabinet marks a return to a more traditional approach to governing, relying on veteran policymakers with deep expertise and strong relationships in Washington and global capitals. And with a roster that includes multiple women and people of color — some of whom are breaking historic barriers in their posts — Biden is fulfilling his campaign promise to lead a team that reflects the diversity of America.
The incoming president will nominate longtime adviser Antony Blinken to be secretary of state; lawyer Alejandro Mayorkas to be homeland security secretary; Linda Thomas-Greenfield to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations; and Jake Sullivan as national security adviser. Avril Haines, a former deputy director of the CIA, will be nominated as director of national intelligence, the first woman to hold that post.
Thomas-Greenfield is Black, and Mayorkas is Cuban American.
Those being introduced on Tuesday "are experienced, crisis-tested leaders who are ready to hit the ground running on day one," the transition said in a statement. "These officials will start working immediately to rebuild our institutions, renew and reimagine American leadership to keep Americans safe at home and abroad, and address the defining challenges of our time — from infectious disease, to terrorism, nuclear proliferation, cyber threats, and climate change."
In the weeks ahead, Biden could also name Michèle Flournoy as the first woman to lead the Defense Department. Pete Buttigieg, the former Indiana mayor and onetime presidential candidate, has also been mentioned as a contender for a Cabinet agency.

Chief of Staff Mark Meadows notified West Wing staff in an email Monday night that the transition process to the Biden administration was formally underway, making it clear that staff should not speak with the Biden team unless authorized by the administration.
Quote: "As you may have seen, the GSA Administrator has made an ascertainment to allow for the start of a Presidential transition," Meadows wrote in an email shown to CNN. "I want to remind all EOP employees of existing procedures and guidance that we must adhere to throughout this Administration," adding "our work here is not finished."
Meadows cited the Presidential Transition Act of 1963 and noted that executive office of the President must adhere to communications guidelines and records guidelines. Meadows said he had appointed liaisons in each office to be the point of contact and said that person should deal with the incoming team.

Stocks soar as Biden transition begins
Investors have a lot to be thankful for this holiday-shortened week, and stocks posted solid gains Tuesday to extend Monday's rally.
The Dow was up more than 300 points, or 1%, shortly after the market opened -- and it was closing in on both a new all-time high and the 30,000 level.

The latest catalyst: It appears that a formal transition from President Donald Trump to President Elect Joe Biden is finally underway.

News came Monday that the General Services Administration is starting the so-called ascertainment process, which allows Trump administration officials to coordinate with the Biden team. And that follows more promising coronavirus vaccine developments on Monday, as well as sources confirming to CNN that former Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen will be Biden's nominee for Treasury Secretary.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq were both higher on Tuesday as well. So was the Russell 2000, an index that is home to smaller American companies that are expected to benefit from a rebound in the US economy.

Oil prices rallied as well, lifting big energy stocks like Occidental Petroleum (OXY) and Marathon Oil (MRO).

Shares of travel related companies, such as airlines, cruise lines and hotels, also continued to rebound due to hopes of a more normal economy in 2021. Shares of Carnival (CCL), Delta (DAL) and Marriott (MAR)were all higher in early trading.

Those tweets look fake, no misspelling, acceptable grammar and only one word SHOUTED out, that has to be written by staff.

Looking ahead:

There are some notions from the Trump era that shouldn't be tossed to the dumpster

Tougher on China comes to mind first and foremost
Scrutinizing these global treaties to ensure US interests more taken into account

Now I haven't swapped completely from multi-nationalist/globalist to uniltateralist, but I have evolved in this regard over the years.

The next POTUS has a chance to tow a more balanced line than we saw with in either the Obama era & Trump term.

The problem here is that he really was never tough on China.
