My son and future daughter in law love it in the Denver western 'burbs. Its getting expensive there however as everyone is moving to Colorado! My wife and I love visiting them there. They are looking to buy their first house in late Spring.

I believe it. I experienced just how brutal it can be in Minneapolis on January 17th, 1999. The temperature was brutal too. Locals told me it was a heat wave.

Pffft, folks in ND drive to the Cities in January to get a break from the cold.

How about “happiness” and physical, emotional well being as a metric?

Aloha.

It is damned expensive, especially for the mountain west. I live in a very affordable house in Arvada. But I have a house in the Berkeley neighborhood of Denver (NW Highlands) that I rent out for a ridiculous amount. I couldn't afford to buy that house now, nor could I afford to rent it. My new tenants just moved from San Francisco. Their monthly income is almost half of my yearly income. It's depressing and exhilarating at the same time.

They rent in Arvada, live at a newer sub. called Village of Five Parks just off 86th Parkway. They like it there, I think he wants to stay close but housing prices will dictate.
