If Mattison hits the hole, game over....

If Cook is in the game, he bounces this one step to his right and walks in. Mattison should have been able to as well. I think he had his blinders on and just wanted to burrow through bodies to try and get it. They opened up a great hole for him and he missed it. Brutal.

Z made the right call IMO. He should have been rewarded with a win for it.

Yeah, I saw that. The hole was there and Matty missed it. I don't think that makes it the right call though.

You kick the three, you have a 90% of making it and you force Russ to drive 75 yards with his best hope of tying the game. And he needs a TD AND a 2 point conversion to do it. You go for it and you run the risk of the above happening, some sort of mistake. And then you give Seattle the ball back after a huge emotional stop, giving the ball back to Russ with a chance to not tie, but win the game with one throw. He kinda digs that.

I'm not going to dwell on it, because it wasn't an obvious call. It could've gone either way. But that whole drive I was thinking, wow, the Vikings are playing really well and we're so lucky to have Mattison, but there's too much time left, it would be a shame if we gave Seattle the ball back with a chance to win it. And I guess that's what Zimmer was thinking. Get the TD and Seattle can't win it.

We found a way...Still, fun game. Probably the most fun I've had watching a game in a long, long time.

I don't have a problem with the decision but you could drive a truck through the hole to the right that Matteson missed.

Meantime defensive genius Mike Zimmer can't figure a way to keep them from going 95 yards in a minute and a half.

Agreed. However, with the game on the line you choose to run to the right side which involves Samia? If you're going to run it you have to run it to the left as Samia was owned all night long and gets hardly any push

But there was a massive hole there. They surprised them by running it to the right and the win was right there for the taking. I guess I don't get your point when a truck-sized hole was there in crunch time so what does it matter where they ran, the opportunity to win was there for Mattison and the Vikings.

There was a hole there behind O'Neill, but it did require Mattison to run horizontal for a half second to get there since Ham wasnt too far ahead. I think Dalvin's quickness gets there but a guy like Mattison doesn't cut much behind the line of scrimmage therefore he's gonna run straight ahead and it backfired.

It was the right call, sadly it didn't work out. Anyone blaming Zimmer is just doing so either because they had already made up their mind that they want him gone, or are just frustrated and can't see the forest for the trees right now.

This team lost two close games in the final minute to a team that's 5-0 now, and another that was in last year's AFC title game. Right now it is what it is. Hopefully we can rebound vs the Falcons next week. After that it's the bye week, a huge game vs the Packers right out of the break, and then a bit of a run with average to below average teams after them.

Genuinely interested in why Zimmer isn't to blame here. My frustration lies in the fact that the Vikes have lost 3 games this year where they led either at halftime or after the first quarter. I think since Zimmer arrived they have the best record or top 5 record when either is the case. The defense looked great in the first half, but once again they failed to be consistent and gave up 27 in the second half and a 94 yard gw drive too.

My frustration is Zimmer's inability to compete for 4 quarters vs good teams. We havent beat the packers in a while, same goes for the bears, and constantly look lost vs good teams (playoff game vs NO last year was fun). I'm tired of the same story, especially when the offense has been pretty damn good the last 3 games. I always was a Zimmer backer, but I can't do it this year. I know not having Pierce and Hunter sucks, but other teams have injuries and people backing out too.

I don't think firing Zimmer right now is the best decision, but if we continue down this path all season long then I am open to exploring another solution.

Because Zimmer didn't throw the INT or fumble the ball in the pocket, leading to two scores for Seattle which turned the tide. And as previously mentioned, if Mattison gets that 1 yard, game over. Or if Dantzer doesn't lose track of the ball on the sidelines on that last drive, maybe that seals the game. My point is find me something to truly blame Zimmer for losing this game. Hell, most people thought the defense would get run off the field all game long, but he and the staff had a great game-plan and it almost led to a win.

I get the fact that people are frustrated, but sometimes it really is something like a bounce of the ball that determines the outcome of a game and not X's and O's.

Well yeah, players make all of the plays, but these aren't new issues. It's always something. I get where you're going, but at some point in time you have to think of how many times we have experienced these types of things in the last 6 years. Boneheaded plays and turnovers seem to be a more common theme the last two years.

It's so sad when you're up 5 with two minutes to play and you know Seattle is coming down to score and win the game. It was the same thing vs the Titans and the Chiefs last year. My confidence in Zimmer's defense is just no longer there, no matter how you look at it.
