The 188 pound DB is just gonna be a speed bump for RB's. Better tackle low or will knocked into next county!

The average weight of the top 25 CB’s at the 2020 combine was a shade under 195 Lbs, the Needle should be able add 7 lbs in a NFL strength program, I would think...

Quote: @Kentis said: According to several reports around draft time (and MaroonBells described this in another thread), Dantzler played around 175 in college, put on some weight quickly to hit 195 at the combine, and ran a 4.64 at that weight. The same reports indicate he was back to 175 soon after and ran fast at his Pro Day. So - if you want him to play at 195, he probably won't be the same player.

I don't get the worry about Dantzler's weight: CBs are there to cover. How many times does a CB have to take a RB down head on in the secondary? It's rare. Running him down is another thing, just jump on him and hang on. I'd rather see Dantzler slap a deep throw away from Golladay in the end zone then worry if he can tackle Aaron Jones head to head.

He’s 6’2, He can carry more weight, unless he’s got a tapeworm or something... B)

Quote: @StickyBun said:Exactly. I mean if Trae Waynes can become one of the better tacklers on our team, I don't see why there is concern about Dantzler. It's want to and good form. Stay low. Waynes was generously listed at 190 lbs... 10 of it was probably from all of his hair. Lol

I find it funny that we find all these little things to nitpick about guys... and we create this narrative before we even get to see him play a snap in the NFL. Anyone watch him in college?

If you can be taught, you can learn tackling technique. I went to a Rugby clinic (back in the day) from an English national coach and learned more about taking a man down without delivering the blow. Technique can make up for size, it was so different than what I was taught growing up playing football, leave that shit for the thumpers.

Scouts say he is willing but lacks physicality to get off blocks. Deion Sanders was 175 pounds also and never became a good run stopper. if Dantzler is half the cover corner Deoin was, he’ll be a solid starter
