This is what I believe the Vikes should do if the board fell like this. Gallimore and Murray both have high floors with decent to good upside and we have alot of retooling to consider coupled with the way the board falls here.
My only giant angst is that Herbert was available at both picks and i would want to draft him really badly, however we are tied to Kirk for at least 2 more years
Gallimore is a load on tape and he helps our run defense immediately, controlling his gap appears easy on his vids
Murray also helps our run d immediately, lets us use Barr as more of a hybrid should free up Kendricks even more and could look really good in 3 4 looks
I see both as immediate impact players on our d, albeit with a few rook mistakes thrown in.

Confused by this. The numbers don't align. Vikings have picks 22 and 25. Also, I would be shocked if the Vikings took a LB in the 1st round.
Ive seen EDGE YETUR GROSS-MATOS mocked to the Vikings many times over now.
We need a DE thread pinned and started as well.
I would shit a puppy if we drafted a LB.

GL getting any TP for that...
The big board I used had us sitting on Gallimore, Murray, and both Love and Herbert. I think this represents BPA and 2 immediate run defenders.
There was no good value at Oline, Corner or WR. Gallimore is getting more ink as the season progresses. Murray was in the top 15 picks earlier this year.
I think Zimmer believes he can cobble a top 10 D while retooling. Signing DK and these 2 first rounders would go along way to doing that.
I also believe Z is counting on Kubes to score 23-24 a game while controlling the clock with what he has. Tall order but it is Kubes

I would have a similar reaction if that LB was Kenneth Murray. I'm not against a LB in day two as I think we eventually cut Anthony Barr (not this year of course), unless he figures out how to cover in space.
No big deal, the order is off by one.
-Gross-Matos at 16 to the Falcons seems a little high, but I wouldn't hesitate to take him at 22 or 25 if I was the Vikings. I like Epenesa better because he has a power rushing game and is not just finesse like Gross-Matos. Epenesa can also slide inside and play 3T on passing downs and is a better run defender.
-I haven't seen any interest by the Cowboys to go after a WR with their pick. Chaisson or a DB would make more sense for them and their needs. It would also crush the hearts of all the Jefferson to Vikings lovers with our 22nd pick.
-I love Josh Jones and hope he will be there for us at 25. He has been gaining some steam again so it's going to be a close call on that one. 18 seems high when there are higher rated players on the board.
-Chaisson would be great value for the Raiders at 19. He reminds of how UCLA used Barr off the edge, but Zimmer still hasn't figured that out yet. Solid pick.
-Fulton at 20 is another head scratcher for me because after Okudah and Henderson, the opinions on the 2nd tier of corners is all over the board with late first/2nd round grades depending on scheme fit and personal preferences. He could be a great pick, but could also be a very average player in the NFL like the other corners getting 1st round looks.
-Diggs at 21 would have made sense at this spot in March where he was projected, but after more scouts are getting a look at him, they are just not impressed enough with his overall game to give him a first round grade anymore. Seeing him slide into the early 2nd.
-Gallimore at 22 is a big reach. I like him, but this is way too early when you can get him at 25, or more likely in a trade down to the late first or early 2nd. A lot of people have Blacklock rated higher. I think Gallimore is more suited to play NT where Blacklock would play 3T which is a higher need for us after signing Pierce to replace Lindval.
-Patriots need receiving help, but Shenault at 23 is a huge risk and reach when he should be available in the 2nd especially coming off of Core Muscle surgery and posting a very slow 4.58 forty.
-Queen has been falling down the boards so this is good value at 24 for the Saints to grab him here, plus he gets to stay home.
-The idea that Murray would allow us to move Barr to a rush end is intriguing but I just don't see it happening. Zimmer has been hesitant to use Barr in more of a pass rushing role but he is a total stud and the value at 25 is definitely there. What kind of influence will Capers have on Zimmer tweaking his defense so his playmakers can be in position to make plays? I would rather take Murray than reaching on one of the second tier receivers or corners at 25.
Gallimore is not a 1st round pick... that would be a massive reach at that spot. I like Murray, but we don't need to be spending a premium pick on a LB when we have Barr, Kendricks, and Wilson as our top 3.
For me, there’s a number of guys I like and my philosophy would be ignore position in the first round. BPA all day and I’m talking in the long term sense.
That’s a big reason this draft is going to potential present a big decision or two for the front office. If a potential franchise QB is available I’d probably pull the trigger. We have a couple of years with Kirk (who I really like), but he won’t play forever. We always talk about a desire to draft a guy and give him time. For once we finally have that luxury.
On the guys I’ve seen discussed here possibly at our pick:
I’d take a Justin Herbert at #22 if available. Regardless of position. He’s not ready now, but he’s got what it takes to be excellent within a year or two. The one caveat as always is personality. No way for me to get a feel for that.
Jordan Love: Jordan’s a 3rd to 4th round grade for me. I like his physical talent, but he has a long way to go. Reminds me way too much of Blake Bortles. The slow windup drives me crazy. He has a better arm than Bortles, but he’ll still see a lot of picks going against NFL speed. He’s strictly a can I develop this guy type. It’s going to take a lot of work. For me, and I realize guys can vastly improve and much comes from their mentality, but I personally wouldn’t draft him. He’s not accurate enough and especially apparent on easy throws.
