Congratulations Randall McDaniel

Vikings hall of fame guard Randall McDaniel never has seen a Super Bowl in person. That is about to change.
McDaniel was named Friday night to the NFL 100 All-Time Team. That means he will be introduced during Super Bowl LIV on Feb. 2 in Miami.
“I am humbled and I am honored,’’ McDaniel said in a phone interview. “I guess this means that I’ll now have to stay for the Super Bowl. I never played in one and whenever I always go there (to the Super Bowl site the week of the game), I leave before the game to beat the traffic. But that will be great staying for one and meeting with the other guys on the team.’’
McDaniel learned of his selection last month and was told to keep it secret. He initially got a voicemail from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and didn’t know what it was about.
“I was wondering why the commissioner was calling me,’’ McDaniel said. “And when he told me (about the All-Time Team), I still didn’t believe him.’’
McDaniel played for the Vikings from 1988-99 before finishing his career with Tampa Bay from 2000-01. He made 11 of his 12 Pro Bowls and had all seven of his all-pro selections with Minnesota.
McDaniel was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009.

McDaniel was the greatest guard I have ever seen play football, and may have been the best individual player the Vikings have ever had.

Great for him. He's one of my very favorite players of all-time, both on and off the field.

I agree. He's got a lot of competition with Moss, Page and maybe eventually Hunter, but guards just don't get the publicity.

I was talking to my son about how great he was just yesterday. He watched a bunch of highlights after that. Congrats and kudos Randall.
