Time to seriously start talking about Zimmer.

Watching teams hire and fire coaches and g.m.'s who built rosters less talented and deep than this one, I always wonder who will be the g.m./coach that Wilf hires who'll do better?  Especially since Wilf never could hire worth a crap and only made Spielman a real g.m. after years of his t.o.a. producing jackshit.   If firing guys produced championships then every team out there would have one.

I'm not really going to argue hard that they should keep their jobs if we go another year without so much as a playoff win but ... what comes next?   Has Zygmunt Inherit-a-Fortune Wilf somehow suddenly learned to build success and hire the right people after Foley, Chili and Les were how he started his tenure?   Or are we just going to get setup for the next 15 years of Wilf mediocrity as he chases some "hot" name or hires whoever walks in the door first without so much as looking at candidate #2 like the last 3 times?    No one knows and that's the truth.
I don't understand this thought process. So you are now scared to hire someone new because they might be worse? But you're ok with the current regime because they've built a talented roster in your opinion? They didn't make the playoffs last year....and its very much up in the air if they will this season. The team spent $84 million guaranteed on a guy that is giving nothing on the investment thus far. The team can't beat good teams but feasts on bad teams. Is the Viking's fanbase so gun-shy and scarred that they won't demand better?

If they don't reach the playoffs, its time to let someone else try. Some of you act like Zimmer hasn't had a chance....6 years isn't enough? Really?
Nobody knows about the unknown, that I agree with, but I think we might know the known part and that's that this team can't beat anyone worth a damn on the playing field. They're already 0-2 in the division. The only playoff game Zimmer has won is the Minneapolis Miracle. That's sobering. And the following week got ANNIHILATED.

Assuming it goes the way you would like it to, I'm pretty sure that after the blessed firings that make every message board table thumper's heart go flutter that we'll be right back here in 2-3 years "demanding better".   You're certain that change is good and I'm not, because the guy making the change has no history of making smart decisions, outside of ones that line his pocket.
You are definitely making an assumption, because what I want is for Zimmer to succeed and remain. That's what I want. But again, you're looking at any potential change as being worse. All the successful guys that are head coaches now are there because someone got fired, keep that in mind.

Simple equation: no playoffs in 2019, no Zimmer and Spielman. But I think the Wilfs will keep them one more year.

I actually think Zimmer is more on the hot seat than RS... But lets see how the season unfolds and hope for the best.

Tough Eagles game this Sunday and then the Vikings kryptonite - outdoor games vs winning teams.

I didn't gather from your posts that you were rooting for Zimmer, it seemed more like you'd had enough and wanted a new guy.   If Zimmer could win it all this year I think he'd do it again soon, because I think there is some monkey on his back that would be gone.

I think we've built a pretty solid overall roster, but had some catastrophic weaknesses, and a lot of being snakebit.  I think Zimmer had a pretty good first year, given how bad our roster was.  I think he's had two mediocre seasons, one good season, and one really good season.  I think 2016 and 2018 can be mostly attributed to catastrophically bad OLine play.  I think they're clearly making good attempts at fixing that.  I think our general offensive struggles can be attributed to not having good offensive coaching, guys rotating in and out.  I like Kubiak.  I think Kubiak and Stefanski should be here to stay for at least a couple years, which will provide us with stability on the offensive side.
I'm not a fan of Cousins.  I think he'll be solid during the regular season with a bad game here and there, but I don't really trust him in big games.  I'd like to see this out another year unless things really tank as a team.  If it's just Cousins that screws up the season, lets keep it consistent but bring in a rookie and another OLineman and see where that takes us.

So who was responsible for those horrible lines?

BINGO.

And also, who’s responsible for  the Vikings being “forced” into signing Kirky, because “what else can you do”? REALLY? That’s an acceptable “excuse”?

Don’t wonder why you received no reply, kmillard.

These questions, and many others, are met with silence......because the ONLY answer is Ricky and the Rychophants STILL think this guy is GREAT!  LMAO!

Spielman’s 2 playoff wins in 13 seasons (8 years apart) is slightly worse than than Zimmer’s 1 in 5, but close. Misery (or mediocrity) loves company.

We’ll see what this season brings.  However, I, and anyone who’s able to view the Vikings historically with an objective view, realizes that this team is heading inevitably toward another playoff winless season.

Premature discussion, apparently.

We should wait and see.

Without a doubt...

We're 4/2 and I like that, even though I wish we would have won at least one road game vs Chi/GB.

3 of next 4 are on the road, that should tell us a lot more about where this teams ceiling is.

Agreed.

And we almost won those games too.  They didn’t knock us out on the road like they should have.

New Asst HC, New OC, New Oline coach, New ST coach- 4-2 is outstanding IMO.

The Vikings are making fewer mistakes.
