Cowboys Rumors: Dak Prescott Turned Down New Contract Worth $30M Annually
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott reportedly turned down a head-turning contract offer as the 2019 season approaches.
According to Michael Lombardi of The Athletic, the Mississippi State product turned down a deal that would pay him approximately $30 million per year. Prescott could become an unrestricted free agent next offseason under his current contract that is set to pay him $2.025 million in base salary this season, per Spotrac.
Dallas offering Prescott significant money is all the more notable with running back Ezekiel Elliott holding out with two years remaining on his contract. There are multiple decisions for the franchise to make in the coming weeks surrounding its two highest-profile players, and it may take even more money to convince Prescott to sign.

I was going to put a pithy title on this in your honor, but too lazy to come up with something...

Be honest, which is more offensive:

Cousins getting $28 or Prescott getting $30?

Agreed to an extent. Get past the gotcha headline somewhat and yeah. Cousins' timing was perfect however. I wouldn't call his contract 'offensive' but I think what Prescott is asking is more of how much leverage he has than anything else. It makes sense in that context.

Prescott has less leverage in my mind.  They should really franchise him and draft someone next year.  He's just not that good.

That's kind of my point: doesn't matter really how 'good' he might be, the franchise likes him and they've got no Plan B. I didn't compare the leverage of Cousins when he was a FA to Prescott's now, if I did, I would agree that Cousins definitely had more. But in the context of the right now with the Cowboys, Prescott definitely has some leverage.

That really should be every teams model, unless you have a top 5 qb. Draft a QB every 5years then franchise him and draft his replacement. It's tough to build a complete team when you have to pay above Average qbs 25-35 million a year.

Its going to happen and fans can think he's not 'worth it', but its what the market bears. QBs, some better than others, are going to get paid.
