Are they going to drug test the farmers first? Or maybe the guy who precipitated the need for the bailout?

We're already socialist.

Teachers, police officers, fire / rescue, social service workers, local / regional government officials, military personnel, retired individuals...dont see many of these folks ('cept government officials) driving around in Lambo's. See many teachers getting traded to another school district for multi-million dollar contracts?  No?  How about those cops out there patrolling the streets each night, or social workers, Ever see headlines how Joe Mama just signed a multi-million dollar contract with the state DPSS? No?

Where do my tax dollars go (in California)? Giving free medical care to illegals.  Meanwhile I have to pay for my medical insurance. Still think we're not socialist?

FDR got people back to work by putting folks on the government payroll. Today, one of our most beloved Presidents, he's also seen as our most socialist.  Social Security designed to pull our older generation out of jobs, in favor of the younger workers with families, The AAA, supporting farmers from abandoning their trade following the dust bowl, even the FDIC, to save banks / savings and loans from their own investment / stock market failures.  Road construction, the Tennessee Valley Authority, Dams, hospitals, schools....

Socialism.....the government paid those people / projects.....and that generation was grateful for the work.  That generation blamed THEMSELVES for the depression, yet despite losing everything they went back to work and started over (many at HALF what they were previously earning). When we went to war, men flocked to enlist, and women went to the docks and hangers to build ships and airplanes. Paid for....that's right....by the government.  Think those folks got a $1.5m signing bonus?

The only ones living in a plutocracy (not democracy) are doctors, lawyers, and businesses.

But lets wave the flag, claim the success of corporate capitalism (plutocracy) and tell us how we're "great again"

God, you can't make this shit up....

"I cannot recall a president that's been more concerned about farmer and agricultural well-being and long-term profitability than President Trump," Perdue said.

Perdue, cleaning the piss off his boots, went on to thank Trump for the rain.

Vanguard,

I don't disagree this your assessment of what the greatest generation went through and sacrificed. However the post war boom and their expectations really started us down this path of losing manufacturing jobs steadily from the 1970s on. Manufacturing now makes up only about 9% of American jobs. That includes alot of small businesses that wouldn't have been considered manufacturing 30 years ago. I guess making crafts in your home and selling on Etsy is "technically" manufacturing???  It's not what made us a world power. Our ability to flip civilian to military production did. That's all gone. As someone close to retirement and in and around manufacturing my whole life. Childhood on up. I see it's not coming back. The start up and infrastructure involved prohibits it. Regardless of what politicians tell us. I know how it works and I'm not buying it.
Those greatest generation folk and their what's wrong with these kids today attitude need to look at what their, my union pay and benefits. My retirement pensions. My American dream that was bought and paid for with barely a high school diploma would now be impossible for the following generations. They used it up. Like them It's continues to disappear as the years pass. Including my beloved dad. He got it though. He knew what was happening.
Yes we are a socialist society. Yes we do need some socialism. It's how the tag is used as dirty name now days that's gotten out of hand. I don't like tags. Nazi, socialist, racist...ect.
No fruitful discussion can begin with name calling. Whether or not the caller even knows why it's a ugly name.
