I got a big, nagging suspicion that NY black-out wasn't caused by what they're saying was the problem...I think it's foreign country meddling.
Am I getting to jaded?

'You didn't plug your new iPhone in upside-down, did you?!!?'
'Huh?'

There are plenty of articles out there that address this PF. I don't know if it's jaded or not but with the governmental instability, there are reasons for concern. There have all kinds of security breaches, I don't expect that to stop anytime soon.

Its hot in July, brown outs and black outs are nothing new in the eastern US metro areas when the weather warms up.

I don't think purplefaithful was being serious. Hence the Weird Al tinfoil hat.
Power grid hacks could be a weapon of terrorism. I don't think any major disruption would occur. You wanna scare yourself read about mass coronal ejections. The last major one was 1859. One like that today could cripple power grids, communication and all our satellites. Effectively removing all modern life as we know it in one day. I read the damage could take years to replace and get back to what we now recognize as normal. Thankfully events this powerful are very rare. https://www.sciencealert.com/here-s-what...s-ejection

It will still be an issue, but most of the horrors of the article will be avoided. Medical facilities and mass transit would be my biggest concerns with an emergency grid shutdown.
