I don't like soccer- regardless of the gender of the people playing it. But I'm glad that many (MANY) other people do like it. I just wish that athletics hadn't become so infected with political vitriol. Like I said, I probably wasn't going to spend a second of time thinking about the Women's World Cup. But- MAYBE- I might have cared... if it hadn't become so politicized. I wasn't a fan of Tebow's antics- but he was ALOT more subtle than Trump-haters have been.
And if/when a Democrat returns to the White House, I'll be just as unhappy if the Vikings refuse to go there- for political reasons- after their Super Bowl win. Why can't we just enjoy being brought together over the accomplishments of "our" (collective) team?
On a completely different note: why don't we just do away with men's and women's sports? Just have "soccer"... or "volleyball" and let every gender compete for a starting spot. Then we won't have to worry about inequalities or any transgender issues. Everyone will be on a fair, equal playing field (except for those who use their power/influence to get their kids on a team).
