ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Kyle Rudolph's extension is a four-year, $36 million contract.Rudolph announced the deal himself on Twitter, but the terms of the contract were not known. The tight end was entering the final year of his deal, but this extension will tie him to the Vikings through the 2023 season. The $9 million new money average surpasses the $7.3 million per year Rudolph earned on his last deal and makes him the fourth-highest paid tight end in the game. SOURCE: Adam Schefter on Twitter

Withholding reaction until the details come out.

I've always thought Rudy was a smart, reliable player with great hands. Not the speediest, flashiest player, but he's been our best TE since Steve Jordan. I don't think the offense is better with him gone.
Congrats, Rudy - Skol!

I'm thinking they plan on him being here a little longer then just this season. Or maybe just hoping. This guy has shown repeatedly what it means to be a member of a team and a community.
Glad he's here.

I'm glad to keep Rudolph, and the comment I heard on the radio this morning indicated something like $4M cap space savings for 2019, so that's a nice win (though mathematically confounding to me..)
I think Rudolph and Smith are complementary and will almost play different positions, at least the first season or two. Smith can be a slot receiver, an H-back...I think he's going to take more playing time from Laquon Treadwell than from Rudolph. |
