How does a tariff on Mexican Avocados or Chinese product not cost the consumer more $$??

I don't hide my disdain for much of Trump's policies or values, but mine is an economic question (that will inevitably foster a political discussion). 

Seriously, how does a Tariff on Mexican or Chinese goods not cost me the consumer more $?

Perhaps one answer is less illegal immigrants saves the country $??  I'm sure there are many takes on this.  

And now I read where the Fed's need to give the farmers > $14b due to the China trade war.  Where does that get paid from? Are the countries getting tariffed somehow paying? How?

I got laughed at by A1 for saying EXACTLY what this article stated. 

Republicans keep trotting out the same bullshit "trickle down economics"/ supply side economics every fucking election cycle.  Yet their dumbass base never listens, never learns, and keeps voting in favor of the same failed economic policies.

Then Democrats inherit the mess, straighten out the economy just in time for the next Republican to torpedo it.  Wash, rinse, repeat.

...yeah, then the dnc will justify tax raises, deficit growth, and every single ill possible by pointing to whomever was their predecessor.  Similarly, it took the death of Bush Sr. for anyone to remember that he started the processes that helped our economy...and ol' "Slick Willie" was credited for.

Cheeto-Boi is being his completely stupid, arrogant, and spineless self in basically pushing ANOTHER tax on us under the guise of "tariffs", and pissing on our relations with Mexico even as he wants to get his bill signed.

Again...how/why does ANYONE support either "main" trashpile, again?  Is it hatred of country?  Fetish for treason?  Being stupid as a truck bumper?
