Twins Baseball is back, now if we could get some summer weather with it lol!
The bullpen? Reminiscent of a Denny Green defense.
To put things in perspective a bit, in 2018 the Twins had hit 80 homeruns at the end of June. They finished July at 105, August at 143 and Sept at 166. Think about it. We've already hit 1/2 of all the homeruns we did in the entire 2018 season so far this year and I'm willing to bet we add to that mark substantially, yet in May. Can we add another 20 in our remaining games this month? We've 37 already this month and it's only the 19th.
The last time I sort of remember the Twins having a power hitting club was back in the Puckett, Herby days. So I looked back at that the 1987 season to see how we stack up against that club. 62 at the end of May, 102 end of June, 128 end of July, 138 end of August and 196 end of Sept. Surprisingly the 2017 Twins hit more homers than the 87 club did, finishing with 206. But even that club only finished with 94 at the end of June. So far in 2019, we are seeing a type of baseball we've NEVER seen before in MN. We are no longer the opposite field, slap swinging club of the past. Top to bottom, every single one of out players can take you deep consistently if you make a mistake. This is a team you want to watch!!

Actually, the 1991 World Series team was 23-25 at the end of May, started June 13-0 and never looked back. 
I do wish the Twins at least tried to hit for average instead of homers or nothing, but since everyone else is doing the same thing it likely won't hurt them. Back before the season started I got tickets for Sunday, Sept. 8 against Cleveland. Starting to look like a great time in the making! B)

They spent the last decade trying to hit for average and where did that get them? Hit the ball hard and good things will happen. Sure a few more fly outs, but the opposite and you've got a screaming line drive or grounder and those find holes. I am damn happy to see the end of the Mauer approach.
I've been keeping an eye on these guys since April. It's been really hard to believe. Last Saturday, I had a 7 hour layover in Seattle, on my way home from Shanghai (hops business). Yes, I did look to see if they had an early afternoon game, but nope. First pitch, I was on my flight, halfway home to Montana.
But do I at least get credit for trying to watch an away game? I tried.
Big come=back again last night vs Angels...Lots of power in that batting line-up. Things will eventually cool off a bit, the key is how much and for how long?

Sano is back; Cruz and Garver will be returning, and now this 22 year old Luis Arraez kid comes along and is mashing hits like crazy too. This lineup is insane with all the hitters.
It's really hard to not get excited for this team. I think Rocco (love
that name, btw) is doing a great job and seems to be a grounded guy that
relates well with his team.

and one reason that we have players coming out of the wood work is due to the fact that the team has been more in a position to hang onto their young talent and not shop it for a rental player come late july. I know that some teams go all in and trade away those guys for hole filler in hopes of putting the team over the top, but I would rather keep our talent and ride what we got for now unless we lose some guys to injury and need to fill that hole.

The lineup is pretty potent from top to bottom... the Twins are top 3-5 in just about every major offensive category (HRs, runs scored, batting average, slugging, OBP, etc.). Then you have Berrios, Odorizzi, and Perez pitching very well and Pineda and Gibson have been solid.
It's still early, but the Twins definitely look like contenders in the American League. Hopefully Garver can come back healthy and pick up where he left off. This is a fun team to watch.
