So... who do you want next?

I was originally thinking we should grab one of the OTs.  But smarter people than I have explained why those guys dropped.  So, if not those guys... what's next?

It sucks about Jawaan Taylor because some team is going to grab him in the first 5-7 picks of round 2. It would be hard to swallow for Minnesota to move up in round 2, give up a pick and get him because of the medical risks. He's a LT and if he can stay healthy, a top 10 type talent.

Sigh. Dalton Risner is there but he's a RT only, IMO. Not sure if Vikes are ready to move O'Neill to LT in 2019 yet.

Both trenches needed bolstering, so I'm good with a 3t or another OL...OTOH, adding a 3rd weapon @ WR or TE is fine by me too. I'm pretty damn easy and enjoying the freedom the Bradbury pick affords us today.

Take Risner, plug him in at RG for this year if he can beat out Kline,  leave the OTs alone,  Elf and Bradbury fill the LG and C spots.  Kline and Collins along with Hill,  Jones, and 1 other fill out my reserves.  Let's play some football.

Taylor isn't a LT, he played the majority of his college career on the right side and that's where most scouts/draft experts have him pegged in the NFL.  Add in his medical red flags and past weight concerns (dude was 380 pounds coming out of high school and had to drop 40 pounds just to get a scholarship)...  he carries a ton of risk.

I said it earlier this off-season, he has too many red flags for my liking...  seems like a classic "bust" player.  I would much rather look somewhere else if we're going to get an OT.

Thanks, Wet....I thought he was a LT prospect.

No worries, a couple weeks ago I thought Connor McGovern from Penn State was an OT and was corrected...  I was thinking of the "other" Connor McGovern from Missouri that was in the draft a couple years ago.  It happens, LOL.

It'll be interesting to see what the Vikings do at OL from here on out...  I wouldn't be surprised if we wait a bit now.  I could see a developmental OT on Day 3, but the next tier of OL seem like interior guys or RTs.  I guess it depends on whether the Vikings want to move O'Neill from RT.  If they do, a guy like Cody Ford might make sense, but then we're likely trading or cutting Reiff to get some cap relief.

If they want to keep O'Neill at RT, then we might look at an OG in the next couple rounds but not necessarily at 50.  Lots of different ways to go, but right now it seems like our OL is:

LT: Reiff / O'Neill
LG: Elflein / Bradbury / Collins
C: Bradbury / Elflein
RG: Kline / Collins
RT: O'Neill / Collins / Hill

That's a pretty solid group.  One more good prospect would give us a ton of depth/flexibility.

Taylor played mostly on the right. What's interesting is that the guy who manned the left (Martez Ivey) is in this draft too. Probably won't be drafted though.

Reminds me of an argument I once had with a guy who tried to convince me that tackle A had to be better than tackle B because tackle A played on the left and tackle B played on the right.

Tackle A: Matt Kalil
Tackle B: Tyron Smith

But back to pumpf's question...  depending on how the draft falls, I would be fine with a TE, WR, OL, or DL in no particular order.  There are still a ton of potential Day 1 contributors at those positions.

This draft is falling very nicely the Vikings...  the positions we need to address are still pretty deep with talent.  We might even be able to trade down from 50 to get another mid-round pick and still get a guy we like.  That might be my preference at this point.
