Vikings in talks to trade up
#1
I don't buy it. If they are, it's just Rick trying to convince another team they need to. It could also be Minnesota and Houston talking to each other.

Maybe they are talking to each other about a trade?
Reiff, Griffen, and Waynes for Clowney and one of their 3rd round picks?
I need to slow down.

Question:

If a team earlier selected the guy a team REALLY wanted...

Couldn't the lower order team arrange to trade for that player already taken....in exchange for their CURRENT pick.....and maybe a later one? (fourth round or whatever?

Example:
Say team at 15 takes "Player X"
But the Team at 18 wanted "Player X" so they offer their 18...and another pick down the road that the "15 team" agrees to all to get "Player X" who was already selected

Didn't this happen to one of the Mannings? or Horse-Face?

If we trade in the first to move up, it'll likely be with Buffalo.  They would give up #9 for #18 and Trey Waynes.  They have $30 in cap space.

Rick doesn't trade up in round 1. When I see it, I'll believe it.

true values those   6th and 7th round picks for the  record im  against  trading up in the  first  this  year depending on how  draft unfolds would be in favor  of moving doown  a  few spots

I could see Rick moving Waynes to move up. I just don't see him giving up any draft capital.

Too many questions swirling around Hill and Hughes right now to trade Waynes. Even if Hughes is starting to run around in shorts.

Yeah, it's no slam dunk. The only thing we know for certain is that they've talked to other teams about Waynes. Your point about Hill and Hughes is well taken, but think of it another way: It's no secret that the Vikings loved what they saw from Hughes. Nothing but raves (sure, some of that may have been to justify an unpopular pick), but if they really do think he's the future, it's possible that he beats out Waynes for the starting job. Then you have $9M of cap space devoted to a non-starter when you could've recouped that and gained a day-two pick. And nothing's stopping you from adding corner depth in the middle rounds. Just something to think about. :-)
