Please Don't Do This Rick. (O-Line)
#1
I saw we signed another spare parts O-lineman yesterday, Dakota Dozier (?). He's the third or fourth O-Lineman we have signed or re-signed this offseason.
I really, REALLY hope these players don't dissuade us from drafting an O-lineman with at least one and hopefully multiple early picks.
If it were any other position group I'd say "eh they're just depth signings, nothing to see here", but considering the way Spielman and Co. have neglected the OL the past few years, I'm starting to get nervous that the Vikings will go in another direction at the draft. Hopefully it's nothing but I will breathe a giant sigh of relief if we draft OL with our first pick and then again in the 3rd or 4th.

Let's hope to hell it isn't the new oline staff talking up their ability to get the exsting players coached up thus convincing spee--he can go for bigger splash drafts spots.

They still need to draft offensive linemen.  Besides, the linemen they have recently signed are either low draft choices or undrafted players.  Hell, high draft choices under rookie contracts would still be cheaper than these guys.

Totally agree, but they've made just enough of these signings to make me antsy.

We may or may not draft OL in the first round, but signing Dozier and Jones will will have zero impact on that. Just two weeks ago we had ONE guard under contract. We needed bodies. Depth. thats all this is.

Why are you here saying completely logical and rational things? Don't you realize this is Vikings fans' favorite part of the year to panic? Wink

[Image: ld3pdpmol42e.jpeg]Vikings signee Dakota Dozier                                                hopes to be starting left guardThe Vikings have an opening at left guard, and Dakota Dozier wants it.
The Vikings signed the 6-foot-4, 313-pound offensive lineman to a one-year contract Thursday that a source said is worth a bit more than the minimum of $805,000.
“As a competitor that’s what you want to do, you’re trying to compete for the starting job,” Dozier said Friday on a conference call. “If it’s there, I’m going to do my best to try to get it.”

You need to prepare yourself for other than Oline in the first.  I predict only 1 Oline picked in first 3 maybe first 4 rounds unless he adds picks with trades.
