Zim Says Rhodes Needs To Play Up To His Contract
#1
“He hasn’t lost speed, he hasn’t lost athletic ability,” Zimmer said. “He’s kind of gotten away from his technique a little bit and we’re going to get back to it.”

Would definitely be great to see.  I think X has some work ahead of him to get his mojo back.

Zimmer criticizing players via the press? Heavens, has that ever happened before??
Tell me again how much his players love him or how it's not his fault when they seem to quit during a few games every year.

You know, I'm beginning to dislike Mikey's tendency to publicly call out others. He has done NOTHING in his coaching career that gives him that cache. Belicheck? Parcells? Coughlin? Sure. Mike Zimmer? Nope, not even close.

Hey Zimmer : NEWSFLASH : YOU need to start living up to YOUR contract, too! Your teams have played in 3 times as many home stadiums than you've had playoff wins, 3 to 1. I know you've been learning at the feet of the master, but you've already scape-goated several coaches, a few kickers and publicly called out several players, including your QB's.
Ya might want to try self-scouting your own results for a change. Figure out how to avoid having your team play their worst when it matters most, hookay, you crotchety ol' SOB?

Im not even going to mention lucky 13's playoff record. It's pointless.....that phukker has more job security than the Pope for some unfathomable reason.

Actually, Zimmer calls out himself and the coaching pretty consistently after any loss.

Zimmer's still miles better than his predecessor, and I'd laugh out loud at anyone that would prefer Chilly to him.

One issue with this team is dumb luck.  Last season, we had our best run-game-guru and OL coach die heading into the season, just before our most proven DL had a massive mental episode.  Xavier got bitten by the injury bug, as did Waynes, and our OL (reeling from a coach actually dying) was also down a major player.  Oh...and we had an OC that, left unchecked, essentially deserted the run game before being released.

You don't get combinations like that too often.  Even with all that, we were 2nd in the division and could have easily been a wild card team if our o-line had even played at a mediocre level.

Zimmer needs to do better, yes...but compared to what he replaced, he's miles above and beyond.

Nah man, accountability needs to go to the TOP!

THE TOP!

We're going beyond Zygi and Mark; this shit is our fault man. We need to fan better. When we don't fan hard enough these guys can't do their damn jobs...

I like Zimmer still. This is not a new tactic as has been pointed out. He needs to produce himself. His job in this league is far more in jeopardy then Rhodes. Rhodes would be taken by any number of teams if he wasn't wanted here. Not saying that's what Mike wants or said. Only that the same can't be said about Mike. If he loses this job it's back to DC or retirement. You better figure out some way to motivate your stars Zim. We'll see if this method works out for you.

I have zero problem with these snowflakes being called out when they are getting paid huge contracts and not producing.  Why shouldn't it come with the territory?

Yeah to say he's not better then his predecessors is plain foolishness. However you can't really judge by such a narrow sampling. They sucked. Chilly was the best and worst of them in some ways. How does he measure up to his current contemporaries. This will be his 6th season with the team. Measure him by the other coaches currently with their teams 5 or more years. That's really the true measure. What's going on in the league now is all that matters. The direction it's trending and if he's keeping up with the trends or too stuck in his ways. He knows it his job on the line. We will see if these newest changes gets them back in the hunt.

Agree...the last time we coddled a star player it didn’t go so well. Please see the notorious case of #28 for further details.

I can’t understand why anyone would get on a coach’s case for publically calling out a high dollar, underperforming player. What should he do?? Praise the guy? Shit would hit the fan on ol’ Vikefans if that happened too...damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Maybe it’s a better idea to instead listen to the player call out the coach publically. That worked well for Mike McCarthy and the Packers front office didn’t it?
