Expected to resign with the Saints despite a better offer from Miami. Likes the culture in NO and the prospect of one day taking over for Drew Brees.
Bridgewater to stay in New Orleans

So the earliest Teddy will probably get a shot at taking over for Brees, he'll be 28 years old or damn close. And there's no guarantee that NO will just hand it over, they could sign or draft a guy to compete (which would probably be smart). IMO, if you wanted a chance to start you should sign with Miami and its his home town: its ideal in that sense. I know the cultures are different, but he's burning prime years sitting behind Brees. But he knows whats best for himself much better than I do.

Quote: @StickyBun said:I think sadly for his sake anywhere he went or goes does not deter that team from drafting someone. Miami even. Happened already in NY and as you say could still happen in New Orleans. Teddy has to get a shot and prove he can play and stay healthy. Till that happens he will always have to look over his shoulder. Maybe he feels looking forward as Brees plays is preferable.

UPDATE: now its being reported that Miami was NOT a big player in trying to get Bridgewater. Sounds like this was Teddy's only option, resigning with NO.

Quote: @StickyBun said: This makes a lot more sense: if he had a chance to compete with Brock Osweiler or Luke Falk to take over his hometown team, why wouldn't he? Even the draft should be less worrisome, since Miami is not picking in the top 10. I think Miami wants Tyrod Taylor more than Teddy Bridgewater - which should be a wakeup for Teddy. I think he'll be a career backup. Too bad he wasn't willing to be that here in Minnesota, but it seems like there was a souring of relations that made that impossible.

From what I heard on the radio this morning, the only part of the first story that wasn't true is that the Dolphins offered him a larger contract. Dolphins reached out and Teddy told them he was staying in New Orleans.

When Sean Payton was asked what QBs he’ll target knowing Drew Brees will be done soon: “I have my guy. His name is Teddy Bridgewater," per @diannaESPN

just read on Rotoworld that the Dolphins are pushing to get Teddy. Apparently his deal with the Saints isn’t signed yet. Hope they get him...
